Kolayat Fair in Rajasthan: Floating diyas at 52 ghats is a scene not to be missed…!

During the Kolayat Fair all 52 ghats are beautifully decorated. Attractive lights give a blissful feel at these ghats. Also the various rituals performed by the devotees make other attraction.

The Kolayat Fair is held every year in October and/or November (Kartik month based on the Hindu calendar) in Rajasthan’s Bikaner distrcit. 

The fair has a great importance in the life of people of Bikaner. Tourists as well as locals experience a great time as the fair is celebrated on an expansive scale. 

This fair is also known as ‘Kapil Muni Fair’. Besides the pomp and show of the fair, it also has a great religious significance. A large number of devotees visit the fair to take a holy dip in the Kolayat Lake. It is believed that a holy dip can provide them respite from all the sins they have done.

The historical significance of the fair also lures a large number of tourists. As per the history, the place of Kolayat is also regarded as Kapilayatan.

The Kolayat Fair Bikaner boasts of a mesmerizing view when all the devotees gather at a common point and leave oil lamps to float in the calm waters of the lake. It will be a great sight for the tourists to see hundreds of lighted lamps floating in the water of the lake.

Each year, Kolayat Fair is celebrated with a tremendous spirit of joy in Bikaner.
