Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Artificial ponds set up to celebrate festival in eco-friendly manner

0

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival celebrated with zeal and fervour in different parts of India. The decked up beautiful statues of Lord Ganesha are brought to home while chanting mantras and made to sit in house for 11 days. On Anand Chaturdashi, these statues are given a warm send off amid music and dance and then they are immersed in water.

Meanwhile, as we immerse in devotion, we forget to care for mother nature and at times, pollute water unintentionally with colours and chemicals used to make these status. This time, artificial ponds are being formed in different parts of India where Ganesha Idol can be immersed.

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation officials have brought in this unique measure to help people bid goodbye to Ganesha for the year, plus it would put a stop to any imminent pollutant.

The vision is to create three artificial ponds. MBMC had declared that these ponds would be situated between 12 idols and strategically located to cover most of the administrative wards in the whole twin cities.

They have also stated that the devotees can conduct the puja before the immersion at home and then provide the Idol at the immersion center.

This keen measure will benefit the devotees and nature and help in less interaction between people considering the covid guidelines.

Civic Chief Vikram Kumar was the first to propose the Idea of artificial ponds in 2012.

Such ponds are also being created in Hyderabad, other parts of mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Pune and many more.

Let’s welcome these ideas that will benefit not only our nature but also us, devotees, as a blessing from our Lord Ganesh.
