He brought back to Kotah the golden idol of Sri Brijnathji and installed it in the Garh. Ever since then, Sri Brijnathji is the Kul Devta of the Kotah family and the presiding deity of the pantheon of gods here.
Maharao Bhim Singh I became a prime devotee of Lord Sri Krishna.
He called Himself Krishnadas and ruled the State in the Lord’s name as his diwan. He renamed Kotah town Nandgaon and wished to gift away the entire State to the Lord.
Wiser ministerial counsels prevailed and eventually only the revenues from the town of Kotah were made over to the Lord. All firmans, pattas and parwanas issued by Maharao Bhim Singh I were under the seal of “Kishandas (i.e. Krishnadas), the first servant of Lord Krishna”.
Kotah State gave large cash grants and endowed the shrine of Nathdwara with 20,000 bighas (i.e. approximately 4,000 acres) of rich farmland.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced to decriminalize same-sex/gay sex between men by scrapping a colonial-era law protecting the definition of marriage.
LGBT activists in Singapore hailed the move as “a win for humanity.”

The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games to be held in Rajasthan are the biggest ever to be organised in sports history in the world as around 30 lakh people have registered for it.
Also two lakh teams have been formed to participate in the event.
On Monday, the theme song for the event was released and its mascot Sheru was unveiled by CM Ashok Gehlot.
Games will be organized from gram panchayat to state level with Rs 40 crore. About 30 lakh state people will participate which will lead to a new sports culture, said the CM.
He added that the main objective is to promote sportsmanship among the general public by encouraging rural sportspersons to hone their talent and encourage them in the event starting from August 29. Along with youth, elderly and women have also registered to participate in sports on a large scale.
If talented players are discovered and trained, then they can bring laurels to the country and the state at the national and international level, he added.
The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics to be held in Rajasthan from August 29 to October 5.
Raj CM further said, “This is for the first time when 30 lakh people from state shall contest in the sports irrespective of any age and bar.”
Gehlot said that this ‘Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics’ will prove to be the biggest sporting event of its kind organized by any state in the country.
There will be six types of sports to be played in this Olympics which include Kabaddi, Tennis Ball Cricket, Volleyball, Hockey, Shooting Volleyball and Kho Kho at the gram panchayat level from August 29.
Ashok Gehlot on Monday unveiled the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games mascot ‘Sheru’ at the indoor hall of Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
He also released the theme song for the event. He said that Rural Olympic Games are being organised in the state from August 29.
A budget provision of Rs 40 crore was set aside for this purpose. The objective of the event is to identify rural sportspersons, hone their talents, encourage them and promote sportsmanship among the general public.
Along with youths, lakhs of elders and women have also registered themselves to participate in the mega sporting event.
Gehlot said that the Rural Olympics is open to all age groups.
About 30 lakh players are participating in these games and 2 lakh teams have already been formed. All kinds of facilities are being made available to players and a new sports culture is being created in the state.

Before independence era, under the Central Railway Province, the train’s primarily role was transportation of cotton to England. This narrow gauge passenger train with approximately 2.6 ft railway track line was collateral to the British company .
However in the year 2016, Indian railway proposed to take over it and converted it into broad gauge.
The train visit covers 190 km stretched railway line covering stations from Yawatmal to Achalpur in approximately four hours. Achalpur being a cotton rich area is the main source for cotton production. From here all required cotton was collected. Through the broader Gauge route, it was then destined to Mumbai. Finally this cotton was then exported to the British via Ships. During 1950s, when India Railways were nationalised, Shakuntala Railway was the only exception.
Even till 2016, Shakuntala Express was under British Government rule to which Indian Railways would give royalty of approximately 1.2 cr per annum. Its maximum permissible speed was calculate to be 20 Km/hr thus covering the journey of 190 km in 20-21 hours.
This train used to run on 1924’s Manchester made Z-D steam engines only which were later replaced by diesel steam engine in the year 1994. Unfortunately the improper maintenance of the railways and bushes and dense grasses made the railway tracks functioning impossible. This eventually caused the government to shut down the narrow gauge train’s services in 2020. .
