Rural Olympic Games in Rajasthan: 30 lakh players, 2 lakh teams & 6 games make it biggest ever sports event…

The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games to be held in Rajasthan are the biggest ever to be organised in sports history in the world as around 30 lakh people have registered for it.

Also two lakh teams have been formed to participate in the event.

On Monday, the theme song for the event was released and its mascot Sheru was unveiled by CM Ashok Gehlot. 

Games will be organized from gram panchayat to state level with Rs 40 crore. About 30 lakh state people will participate which will lead to a new sports culture, said the CM.

He added that the main objective is to promote sportsmanship among the general public by encouraging rural sportspersons to hone their talent and encourage them in the event starting from August 29. Along with youth, elderly and women have also registered to participate in sports on a large scale.

If talented players are discovered and trained, then they can bring laurels to the country and the state at the national and international level, he added.

The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics to be held in Rajasthan from August 29 to October 5. 

Raj CM further said, “This is for the first time when 30 lakh people from state shall contest in the sports irrespective of any age and bar.”

Gehlot said that this ‘Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics’ will prove to be the biggest sporting event of its kind organized by any state in the country.

There will be six types of sports to be played in this Olympics which include Kabaddi, Tennis Ball Cricket, Volleyball, Hockey, Shooting Volleyball and Kho Kho at the gram panchayat level from August 29.

Ashok Gehlot on Monday unveiled the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games mascot ‘Sheru’ at the indoor hall of Sawai Mansingh Stadium. 

He also released the theme song for the event. He said that Rural Olympic Games are being organised in the state from August 29. 

A budget provision of Rs 40 crore was set aside for this purpose. The objective of the event is to identify rural sportspersons, hone their talents, encourage them and promote sportsmanship among the general public. 

Along with youths, lakhs of elders and women have also registered themselves to participate in the mega sporting event. 

 Gehlot said that the Rural Olympics is open to all age groups. 

About 30 lakh players are participating in these games and 2 lakh teams have already been formed. All kinds of facilities are being made available to players and a new sports culture is being created in the state.

 He asked the local public representatives to enthusiastically play their part along with the general public in the successful organisation of the games

Games will be organised from August 29 The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games will be organised from August 29 to September 1 at gram panchayat level, from September 12 to September 15 at block level, from September 22 to September 25 at district level and from October 2 to October 5 at state level. The games are being organised in coordination with the Sports Department, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Education Department, Health Department and local administration.
