First-ever Urban Climate Film Festival!

0

The urban climate film festival’s objective is to increase public awareness of the effects of climate change on urban life and stimulate discussion on sustainable urban development. Thus, the festival, which contains films from more than 20 nations, got funding from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Union.
27 movies were chosen from a jury’s selection, and 11 were chosen to screen at the festival.

In the event, five cities will host screenings of the chosen movies, allowing a larger audience to experience the urban climate film festival’s message.
Therefore, the event will encourage people to take action by increasing awareness of climate change and sustainable urban development.

The CITIIS initiative intends to help India’s 12 smart cities put innovative, environmentally friendly urban infrastructure projects into action. The NIUA is promoting the CITIIS program’s approach to urban infrastructure projects by hosting the Urban Climate Film Festival.

However, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the National Institute of Urban Affairs is a central autonomous body that carries out multidisciplinary research, policy planning, and advocacy in the area of urban development. The work of NIUA is essential for advancing India’s sustainable urban development.

Nonetheless, the U20’s goal of facilitating sustainable urban development is aligned with the Urban Climate Film Festival, which is organized by NIUA.

The Portal of Vedic Heritage

0

The creation of this webpage took seven years and an estimated Rs 5 crore. For scholars and other people looking for information regarding India’s Vedic legacy, the Vedic Heritage Portal provides a one-stop shop. Thus, it was unveiled during the 36th Foundation Day festivities of the IGNCA by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy.

India’s Vedic legacy is being mapped through the Vedic Heritage Portal. However, the website provides comprehensive information about implements, published books/manuscripts, and oral traditions (yajna-related objects).
The portal’s purpose is to compile data to make the Vedas understandable to people and to offer a platform for ongoing discussion. It is a digital platform that promotes and maintains the “Vedas,” which the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization describes as part of the intangible cultural legacy of mankind (UNESCO).

Nonetheless, the website has more than 550 hours of audio-visual information relating to more than 18,000 Vedic mantras that were created in collaboration with professionals from across the world, Vedic research institutions, Vedapathi families, and others who are familiar with the Vedas.
Together with audio information in Sanskrit, the Vedic Heritage Portal is accessible in a combination of English and Hindi. The webpage also offers lectures and research papers on scientific topics that show how “Vedic knowledge” is relevant from the standpoint of contemporary science.

Therefore, the Vrihattar Bharat project, which is being worked on by the IGNCA, will examine the cultural ties between India and 40 other nations, including those in South East Asia, including Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Mongolia.

A national demonstration against Rajasthan’s Right to Health Act is called by IMA.

0

The Right to Health (RTH) Bill, which was recently passed in the state assembly despite calls from medical professionals to have it rolled back, will be the target of a national black day on March 27 that will be observed nationwide, according to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which announced this on Saturday.

Thus, the Act, which grants rights to any person to access free care along with “emergency treatment” at any health institution in the state without prepayment, has been the target of protests from doctors across the state, including the Rajasthan chapter of the IMA.

Therefore, the RTH Bill was approved by the assembly on March 21, making Rajasthan the first state to ever create legislation defending patients’ rights to fair access to healthcare.

The Act forbids government and private hospitals from withholding care because any patient may receive free treatment at public health facilities. However, at public health facilities, medical facilities, and specialized healthcare facilities, patients may also receive “emergency treatment” without having to pay in advance. Also, a separate fund will be established for cost-free care in private hospitals.

Healthcare professionals have, however, objected to several Act passages where the word “medical emergency” has not been defined precisely and have questioned how the costs incurred by private hospitals will be compensated. Thus, they have also voiced opposition to the formation of a grievance committee to handle patient complaints.

Nonetheless, The IMA has urged all states to mark Black Day by donning black badges in support of the Rajasthani medical community. Additionally, it pushed the local branches to adopt a resolution opposing the RTH Act.

The study is based on information from the Gallup World Poll’s primary life assessment question, which gauges how content people feel with their lives overall. The top 10 happiest nations were ranked in the study, with Finland coming in first place, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Israel, and the Netherlands. The top 10 list also included Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and other European nations. Only one non-European nation New Zealand made the top 10. The rankings are determined by several variables, including views on corruption, generosity, life expectancy, and social support.

India’s ranking in the World Happiness Report has increased from 136 to 126, although it is still behind its neighbors Bangladesh, Nepal, and China. India frequently ranks low on the survey despite having the fastest-growing economy in the world, which has some people wondering how it can be listed behind unstable nations.

The Global Happiness Report also lists the least happy nations, with Afghanistan coming in at the bottom of the list of the 137 polled countries. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, and Lebanon were all included in the survey as being among the least happy nations, mostly because of issues like high levels of corruption and short life expectancies.
