The Embassy of India and the Gandhi Centre organized the Dhrupad concert on September 23, in The Hague, Netherlands.

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Embassy of India and the Gandhi Centre in the Netherlands organized the Dhrupad concert at the Gandhi Centre.

Dhrupad is the oldest classical style of Hindustani music. The renowned guest Vidushi Mrs. Ashoka Dhar and Rishabh Dhar were the performers for the Dhrupad concert.

Mrs. Ashoka Dhar doesn’t require much introduction, being the seniormost student of the Dhrupad Maestro Late Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar sahib. The first female Dhrupad performer from India, a true legend. Her career is now more than 45 years and not limited to India but throughout the world.

She received many awards globally. In her distinguished career, Ashokaji has performed in all major festivals in India & Abroad. Apart from being a very well-known performer, Ashokaji is a very well-respected teacher globally. We feel very blessed to have her today and listen to her!She was accompanied by her son Shri. Rishabh Dhar on Pakhawaj.

Mrs. Ashoka Dhar and Shri. Rishabh Dhar were felicitated by Mrs.Tara Pathak, the Director of the Gandhi Centre and concluded the event by presenting vote of thanks.
The event was hosted by Mrs. Pranita Deshpande.

The official journey of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav started on 12th March 2021 with a 75-week countdown to India’s 75th anniversary of Independence and will end post a year on 15th August 2023.

The Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is being celebrated worldwide on all continents of the globe!
