Buddha Purnima is being celebrated across the world to celebrate the birth day of Lord Buddha who was born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama on the full moon day in 563 BC in Lumbini (modern day Nepal). The day is celebrated as Buddha Purnima. In Hinduism, Buddha is considered as the ninth avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Buddha Purnima, also called as Buddha Jayanti, is the celebration of Gautama Buddha’s birth and this year, it is being observed on May 26.

Buddha Purnima is also called as Vaisakhi Buddha Purnima or Vesak.

As per the Hindu calendar, Buddha Jayanti falls on a full moon day in the month of Vaisakh (which usually falls in April or May).

Buddha Jayanti, 2021 will mark the lord Buddha’s 2583rd birth anniversary.

This marks the most important festival for the followers of Buddhism across the world. On Buddha Jayanti, the Mahabodhi temple situated in Bodhgaya is beautified with colourful decorations, and special prayers are held under the Bodhi tree, where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment.

Will Facebook, Twitter, Instagram be banned in India ? New IT Rules 2021 come into effect form ?

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can be banned in India if they fail to comply with the guidelines as set by Government of India by May 25.

Social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can be banned in India if they fail to comply with the new Intermediary Guidelines.

The deadline, as set by the government, to accept the guidelines will end on May 25 but none of the platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter have complied with the new regulations yet.

Koo, the Indian version of Twitter, is the only social media app that has complied with the new guidelines ahead of the May 25 deadline.

In February 2021, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITy) had given a three-month time period to the social platforms to comply with the new IT rules.

So, it comes as a crucial moment for the social media companies because if they do not comply with the new rules by May 25, they shall lose their status and protections as intermediaries.

Meanwhile, the US-based companies had requested for six months time as they are waiting for a response from the US headquarters.

Abhinav Bindra: The first Indian to win individual Olympic Gold Medal in 2008

Abhinav Bindra was the first Indian to win an individual Olympic gold medal on August 11, 2008 in Beijing. He started his Olympic journey in 2000 and qualified in three Olympic finals including his golden journey of Beijing in 2008 (Athens being the other one) in his pet10m air rifle, while he missed out in Sydney and London.

Abhinav Bindra achieved the feat during the 2008 Beijing Olympics when the 10 metre air rifle shooter was seen at the top of his craft.

The shooter shot a 10.8 on his last shot and sealed the gold medal for the Indian.

Before this shot, he was tied with Henri Hakkinen from Finland and had he shot anything less than 10.8, he would not have won the gold medal.

He started his Olympic journey in Sydney in 2000 and qualified in three Olympic finals including his golden journey of Beijing in 2008 (Athens being the other one) in his pet 10m air rifle, while he missed out in Sydney and London.

Bindra, India’s lone individual Olympic gold medallist, in 2017 officially announced his retirement, saying “it is time to move on and hand over the baton to the younger generation.”

Thousands years back, there lived a Rishi (Sage) called Kashyap in India. He and his wife, Diti had two sons Hiranyaksh and Hiranyakashipu. I

As per legends, Varaha Avatar (Boar) of Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyaksh. Due to this, Hiranyakashipu pledged to avenge the death of his brother. In his intent to defeat Lord Vishnu, he performed Tapasya (Penance) and pleased Lord Brahma to remain unconquerable.

Misusing this power, he gained control over heaven and began to harass the Gods, Rishis, and Munis (Ascetics). At that time, a baby boy naed Prahlad was born to his wife Kayadhu. Despite being born in the demon family, Prahlad was a staunch devotee of Vishnu and worshipped him with utmost devotion and love. He continued his reverence for the Lord and enraged by his act, Hiranyakashipu set an intention to kill his own son.

Hiranyakashipu’s many attacks on Prahlad went in vain due to Lord Vishnu’s grace. Feeling hopeless, he then decided to burn his son and impelled Prahlad to sit in the fire together with his aunt Holika who was blessed to remain harmless in fire.

But, Lord Vishnu’s blessings saved Prahlad while Holika died in the fire.

Hiranyakashipu then held Prahlad and asked him, “Where is your God?”.

To his utter shock, Lord Narasimha appeared out of the pillar. As Hiranyakashipu was blessed for not being killed by Devas, either in human or animal form, neither during day or night, Lord Vishnu hence emerged in the body of Narasimha as half-man and half-lion. He laid Hiranyakashipu in his lap and killed him using his sharp nails.

Analysis of the Fungal Transcription Factor Database (Park et al.,2008) revealed that fungal species are characterised by a high diversity of zinc finger transcription factors, ranging from 116 in C. albicans to 311 in A. fumigatus.

As active deprivation of zinc by body of host (infected person) is an important anti-fungal mechanism and Zinc is a metal, so CHELATING AGENTS can be introduced as a chemotherapeutic alternative to control in vivo fungal development .

COVID-19: Rajasthan government extends lockdown from May 24 to June 7. Here are the new guidelines…

COVID-19: Rajasthan government on Sunday has extended the lockdown by 15 days which shall continue from May 24 to June 7. The strict curbs under the guideline include:

Increase in penalty for those roaming /working without masks in public places from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.

Marriage ceremonies have been strictly prohibited till June 30, however, marriages in court and in houses are permitted with a guest limit of 11 people.

Markets, except shops of essential commodities including milk, grocery, vegetables and fruits, shall remain closed from May 28 (Friday) from 12 noon to June 1 (Tuesday) till 5 pm and from Friday June 4 from 12 noon to June 7 till 5 pm.

This shall be a three-level lockdown, At the first level, people from outside should be restricted to enter inside the house to protect children and old age people from infection, said officials.

At the second level, people in villages and towns should avoid gathering of 5 people at one place.

At the third level, city to city, village to village and city to village transport is not permitted under the guidelines. People will have to bring in a change in their social behaviour.

All religious places shall remain closed.

All marriage gardens will remain closed.

On Saturday, a council of ministers attended a COVID review meeting under which it was discussed that there was not much difference between second and third waves in European nations and hence a lockdown extension should considered to break the chain of Corona virus.

As infection rate continues to remain about 15 per cent and death rate too remaining high, there was rigorous discussion held on extending lockdown.

Indian Idol 12: Young pop star Neha Kakkar has left her fans concerned with her absence from Indian Idol 12 for two week in a row.

Indian Idol 12 is being shot in Daman due to the lockdown-like curfew in Maharashtra, where shooting is not allowed.

Given the strict bio bubble, all three judges — Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya chose to excuse themselves from joining the team, due to previous commitments.

In the last week, Neha was celebrating her six-month anniversary and was on a break from work to spend time with husband Rohanpreet Singh.
