For the first time ever in IR, has a trans tea stall been opened in a Railway Station

In a bid to empower Transgenders, a trans tea stall has been opened at Guwahati Railway station today which will be fully managed by the Transgender community. This initiative by N. F. Railway is a first of its kind over the Indian Railways. It has been done with active collaboration of All Assam Transgender Association.

The Government of India has approved a comprehensive empowerment scheme for Transgenders named “Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise” which includes a sub-scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Welfare of Transgender Persons.

This is a first ever such initiative in Indian Railways. Northeast Frontier Railway plans to operate more such Trans Tea Stalls at more Railway stations in the region.
