World Lion Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2013 which started as an initiative to protect the big cats.
PM Narendra Modi, on the occasion of World Lion Day, expressed his happiness over the fact that lion population in India has seen a steady increase in last few years.
Conveying his greetings to those passionate about lion conversation, he said, “The lion is majestic and courageous. India is proud to be home to the Asiatic Lion. On World Lion Day, I convey my greetings to all those passionate about lion conservation. It would make you happy that the last few years have seen a steady increase in India’s lion population.
