Shani Shignapur, a village located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, is one of its kind village in India, as well as in the world, which is famous for the fact that no house here comes along with the doors.
It might sound difficult to believe but is a fact that homes here have no front doors and shops are always left unlocked here ensuring that locals never feel unsafe here.
Residents of the village are never scared for security, thanks to their belief in the Hindu deity Shani, whose famous temple is located here. They believe God Shani provides complete security to the temple.
Shani Shingnapur attracts about 40,000 devotees each day due to its 300-year-old legend. This number has come down during pandemic, however, earlier thousands of devotees came here to offer their prayers.
Traditionally, women have been prohibited from climbing the platform where the idol is installed at the Shani Shingnapur temple.
Soon after, the activists led by Bhumata Brigade founder Trupti Desai campaigned against the issue, due to which the temple trust allowed women to enter into the inner sanctum.
