The much-anticipated IPL 2025 final between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be played today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With over one lakh spectators expected to attend, elaborate security arrangements have been made, and a spectacular closing ceremony themed ‘Operation Sindoor’ is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

5-Tier Security, Over 4,000 Personnel Deployed

In light of past security breaches during major cricket events, the Ahmedabad Police have implemented five layers of security. Over 4,000 police personnel have been deployed in and around the stadium.

  • Barricade checks on main approach roads
  • Ticket verification and frisking at stadium entry gates
  • Metal detector scanning at the main entrance
  • Pre-seat checks inside the stadium
  • Around 2,000 security personnel stationed within the venue

To prevent pitch invasions, 140 police jawans will be deployed around the boundary ropes as “Field of Pitch Officers”, ensuring a secure perimeter between fans and players.

Weather Alert: 64% Rain Forecast, 30-40 km/h Winds

The India Meteorological Department has forecast a 64% chance of rain in Ahmedabad today, with wind speeds likely to reach 30–40 km/h. However, the match is unlikely to be significantly affected, thanks to the stadium’s advanced sub-soil drainage system.

Sub-Soil Drainage System Explained

The Narendra Modi Stadium is equipped with a state-of-the-art sub-soil drainage system that can drain rainwater within 30 minutes. The system consists of:

  • Curved sub-soil pipes beneath the entire ground surface
  • 58 types of drainage variations connected to 19 main lead pipes
  • Efficient water seepage and outflow infrastructure

This system ensures minimal delays even during heavy rainfall.

Grand Closing Ceremony Themed Operation Sindoor

Before the match, a grand closing ceremony themed “Operation Sindoor” will honor the Indian Armed Forces. The entire stadium will be illuminated with tricolor lights, and a live concert by Shankar Mahadevan and his sons, Siddharth and Shivam Mahadevan, will set the tone for the evening.

Shankar Mahadevan’s performance will pay tribute to the soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor and commemorate those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack.
