Raja Ram Mohan Roy born on May 22, 1772 and was one of the founders of Brahmo Samaj who was given the title of Raja by Akbar ll, the Mughal emperor. 

Considered to be the “Father of the Bengal Renaissance”, he took stringent efforts to abolish the practises of sati and child marriage.

Here are a real facts from Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s life:

1. Born in Radhanagar, Hooghly District, Bengal Presidency, Raja Ram Mohan Roy was married three times. While his first wife and second wife died in 1824 while the third wife outlived him.

2. He integrated the Western Culture with the best features of his own country’s traditions and established a number of schools to popularise a modern system of education in India replacing Sanskrit based education with English based education.

3. He was one of the first who took efforts to estimate how much money was being taken out of India and to where it was disappearing.

4. In 1830, Raja Ram Mohan Roy travelled to the United Kingdom as an ambassador of the Mughal Empire to ensure that Lord William Bentinck’s Bengal Sati Regulation, 1829 banning the practice of Sati was not overturned.

5. He passed away on 27 September 1833 of meningitis at Stapleton and was buried in the Arnos Vale Cemetery in Southern Bristol.

ICMR home-based RAT kit for COVID-19

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved a home-based rapid antigen testing (RAT) kit for COVID-19 , which is advised to be used by only symptomatic individuals as well as on immediate contacts of laboratory-confirmed positive cases.

The home-based rapid antigen testing kit manufactured by Mylab Discovery Solutions Ltd, Pune, is validated and approved.

Only nasal swab will be required for this rapid antigen testing and the process should be conducted as per the procedure described by the manufacturer in the user manual.

All individuals testing positive via the RAT kit should be considered as true positives and no repeat testing is required while all RAT negative symptomatic individuals should be treated as suspect cases and are advised to follow the ICMR/Ministry of Health home isolation protocol while awaiting the RT-PCR test result.

Sudhir Chaudhary tests COVID-19 positive

Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor In Chief & CEO , Zee News, WION, Zee Business who hosts a famous news show DNA, has tested COVID positive. 

Chaudhary, a Ramnath Goenka Awardee, shared the news with his followers on twitter on Thursday. 

In his message, Chaudhary said, “I have been away from DNA since two days.Have tested positive and am taking treatment as advised by doctors,” he said, adding that ‘those who came in contact with him in last few days should get themselves tested.’

A few days back, AajTak news anchor Rohit Sardana lost his life after battling COVID-19.

Another TV actor Shweta Jha also tested positive in July last year.
