Billionaire Mukesh Ambani has resigned as Director of Reliance Jio effective from 27 June 2022.
The working arm of Reliance Industries, Reliance Jio Infocomm Pvt Ltd Announced that Ambani is stepping down from the chair of Director and transferring all the leadership to his elder son Aakash Ambani.
Reliance Jio Infocomm, in a regulatory filing, said the company’s board at a meeting, “approved the appointment of Akash M Ambani, non-executive director, as chairman of the board of directors of the company.”
Pankaj Mohan Pawar will take over as the Managing Director of the company from 27 June, according to the decisions taken at Jio’s Board of Directors meeting held on Monday, 27 June, 2022.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has brought performance standards for batteries being used in electric vehicles, after the recurring incidents of fire.
BIS released standard test specifications for lithium-ion traction battery packs and systems (performance testing) for vehicles.
Standard IS 17855:2022 was created for these battery packs and systems has been harmonised with ISO 12405-4: 2018.
BIS is in process to publish two more standards for batteries, that will be used in electric goods and passenger carrying vehicles.
IS 17855:2022 standard
IS 17855:2022 standard is formulated after considering real-life scenarios for the electric vehicle, such as parked vehicle, battery running at low & high temperatures, and battery system shipped (stored).

Fire incidents in electric two-wheeler
Union Road Transport and highways Ministry has tasked the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), to investigating electric two-wheeler fire incidents. These defects occurred as electric two-wheeler manufacturers such as Pure EV, Jitendra Electric Vehicles, Okinawa Autotech, Boom Motors and Ola Electric may have used “lower-grade materials to cut costs”.

About Elephant Siren Project
Under this project, Siren tower will be put in the elephant prone areas which will start blaring, when elephants will cross the road for alerting drivers within a distance of up to 1km.
As soon as elephants arrive, the siren will ring and red light will be on.
Forest officer will also receive a message regarding this on his mobile phone.
Who initiated this project?
The pilot project started by ‘Change’, a voluntary organization that works in the field of elephant protection, will work in collaboration with Dhenkanal Forest Department for protecting elephants. This project has been implemented in Rasasingh area under Dhenkanal Sadar Range, for the first time which is an elephant-prone area. The elephant siren project has been started near Rasasingh and Haldiabahal, along the Dhenkanal-Anugul National Highway 55, on experimental basis.
Where will siren be installed?
The siren tower will be located along National Highway 55 and shall have a red light with a sensor as well as a siren machine.
Significance of the project
The elephant siren project is significant, as it will make elephants safe and the forest dwellers can also stay protected from elephant attacks.

Facilities under BRO Cafes include parking for two and four wheelers, restrooms for men, women & differently abled, food plaza/restaurants, MI rooms, first-aid rooms, etc. Licensees will be selected through a competitive process.
Terms of agreement
The terms of the agreement for licensees will stay for 15 years. This may be further extended for a period of up to five years.
How many BRO Cafes will be set up?
A total of 19 BRO Cafes will be set up in Arunachal Pradesh, 7 in Himachal Pradesh, 2 in Assam, 14 in Ladakh, 12 in Jammu & Kashmir, 11 in Uttarakhand while 5 in Rajasthan. Other wayside amenities will be set up Sikkim, West Bengal, Nagaland, Punjab, and Manipur.
