A school in Kerala has introduced Iris, a humanoid teacher, which is a big step forward in educational technology. They worked with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited to create Iris, aiming to make learning more fun and easy for everyone. It’s a new and exciting way to make education interactive and accessible.

The AI teacher Iris is super cool for students! It can talk in at least three languages, answer tough questions, and has cool features like being a voice assistant, making learning fun, doing stuff with its hands, and moving around.

Makerlabs shared a video of Iris on their Instagram, and people are really liking it! They say that Iris, the AI Teacher Robot, is going to change how we learn – like a big makeover for education!

“By adapting to each student’s needs and preferences, IRIS empowers educators to deliver engaging and effective lessons like never before,” wrote Makerlabs on the post.

The Capabilities of Iris

Multi-language Communication – This makes learning super cool for students who speak different languages, so everyone can join in and have fun together.

Voice Assistance and Interactive Learning – Iris is like a helpful friend because it can talk to students, help with lessons, answer questions, and have cool conversations about learning stuff.

Leopard Population in India Witnesses an 8% Surge from 2018 to 2022

Leopard Population Report 2022

India’s leopard population has experienced an 8% increase, rising from 12,852 in 2018 to 13,874 in 2022, as per a report released by the Environment Ministry on Thursday. The comprehensive survey, covering nearly 6.5 lakh km across 20 states, reveals both positive and concerning trends in the leopard population.

State-wise Overview

Madhya Pradesh leads with the highest number of leopards at 3,907, followed by Maharashtra (1,985), Karnataka (1,879), and Tamil Nadu (1,070). However, Uttarakhand witnessed a 22% decline, attributed to factors like poaching and human-wildlife conflict. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and West Bengal collectively experienced a 150% rise, reaching 349 animals.

Survey Details

Covering 20 states and focusing on 70% of the expected habitat, including tiger reserves and protected forest areas, the survey was coordinated by the Wildlife Institute of India. Leopards, being adaptable and found in various landscapes, often coexist with human settlements, leading to increased conflicts and mortalities. Qamar Qureshi from the Wildlife Institute of India emphasized the importance of conserving leopard habitats within tiger reserves.

Regional Analysis

The Shivalik hills and Gangetic plains witnessed a 3.4% yearly decline, while Central India, Eastern Ghats, Western Ghats, and the hills of the northeast, along with the Brahmaputra flood plains, recorded growth of 1.5%, 1%, 1%, and 1.3% per annum, respectively. The report suggests a stable overall population in the last four years, indicating minimal growth. Unlike tigers, leopards face challenges in multiple-use areas due to human interaction.

Challenges and Conservation

In the Ramnagar forest division (Uttarakhand), leopard numbers have declined, contrasting the steep growth in tiger numbers. Approximately 65% of the leopard population resides outside protected areas in the Shivalik landscape. Uttar Pradesh has seen an increase in both leopard and tiger numbers, highlighting the complex dynamics between big cats and human settlements.

Survey Methodology

Forest surveyors covered extensive distances, traveling 6,41,449 km to identify carnivore signs and estimate prey abundance. Camera traps were strategically placed at 32,803 locations, capturing 4,70,81,881 photographs.

Sampling Artefact in the Northeast

Dr. Qamar Qureshi explained the significant rise in leopard numbers in northeastern states as a “sampling artefact,” suggesting that systematic surveys and camera installations were limited in previous years.

Final Thoughts

While the overall leopard population remains stable, the survey sheds light on the challenges and nuances faced by these adaptable big cats, emphasizing the need for conservation efforts and sustainable coexistence between leopards and human populations.

PM Modi Inaugurates Khatipura Railway Station

Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again bestowed numerous gifts upon the state. On Friday, February 16, PM Modi addressed virtually the Vikas Bharat Vikas Rajasthan program, laying the foundation stone and inaugurating various projects related to the state. Additionally, the PM dedicated eight projects related to Rajasthan’s railways, collectively valued at Rs 2300 crore, to the public. Among these, the Khatipura railway station built in Jaipur was also inaugurated by PM Modi. Khatipura railway station had been developed as a satellite station for Jaipur and was equipped with a ‘Terminal Facility’ where trains could depart and stop as a terminal station.

Railway officials say that this work has been done by blocking traffic for just four hours and making 8 line stations operational. It will be inaugurated soon. After this many trains will operate from here.

Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Captain Shasikiran said that Khatipura station was started at 5.10 pm with electronic interlocking in Jaipur-Rewari section of Jaipur division. The station is commissioned with Standard-III, double distant with multiplex signaling and electronic interlocking.

Before this work, Khatipura station was a 4 line station with panel interlocking, which has now become an 8 line station with new electronic interlocking. 8 line crossing stations between Khatipura, Jagatpura and Kanota station have been operated with centralized operation through dual system, electronic interlocking system.

The new station building has been commissioned by DLBI and HASDAQ (CEL Make) with coordination of multiple technologies (QUAD and OFC). Also 41 Nos of High Thrust Point Machines along with Thick Web Switch were installed and commissioned. 56 new signals with LED lights have been installed at Khatipura station.

Ravichandran Ashwin made a significant mark in the ongoing fourth Test match (23 – 26 Feb, 24) between India and England in Ranchi’s second innings. Ashwin achieved a historic feat by dismissing England’s opener Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in consecutive deliveries, surpassing Anil Kumble’s long standing record to become the highest test wicket-taker for the country on a prestigious list.

Ravichandran Ashwin added another significant milestone to his illustrious career just a week after reaching the milestone of 500 Test wickets. This achievement occurred during the ongoing fourth Test match between India and England at the Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) in Ranchi, where Ashwin continued to etch his name in the annals of Indian cricket history.

Following India’s conceding of a 46-run first-inning lead to England, despite a commendable 90-run performance by Dhruv Jurel and spirited batting from Kuldeep Yadav, captain Rohit Sharma promptly entrusted the new ball to Ashwin for the first time in the series.

Ashwin lived up to his captain’s trust, securing crucial wickets by dismissing the in-form Ben Duckett (15) and Ollie Pope (0) in consecutive deliveries. 2015 में, इस नमकीन को प्रतिष्ठित भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) टैग दिया गया।” एक ऐसा दर्जा है जो विशेष रूप से किसी विशेष क्षेत्र से संबंधित उत्पाद को दिया जाता है। उस विशेष उत्पाद की गुणवत्ता, प्रतिष्ठा और किसी भी अन्य विशेषताओं को आम तौर पर उत्पाद की भौगोलिक उत्पत्ति के लिए जिम्मेदार ठहराया जाता है।”

रतलामी सेव की उत्पत्ति मध्य प्रदेश के मालवा क्षेत्र के एक छोटे से शहर रतलाम में हुई, जो पहले एक समृद्ध संस्कृति वाला एक राजसी राज्य था। पहले रत्नपुरी के नाम से जाना जाने वाला, रतलाम का निर्माण राजा रतन सिंह राठौड़ जो जोधपुर के राजा उदय सिंह के परपोते थे  उन्होंने 1652 में किया था। राज रतन सिंह और उनके पहले बेटे राम सिंह के नाम पर रखा गया रथराम, उनकी राजधानी बन गया, और फिर बाद में समय के साथ यह रथराम से रतलाम हो गया।

इसके बाद  19वीं शताब्दी में हुई रतलाम से सेव की उत्पत्ति तब जब मुगल सम्राट राज्य के मालवा क्षेत्र के दौरे पर आए हुए थे। और इस दौरान उन्हें अचानक सेवइयाँ खाने की इच्छा हुई सम्राट की इस इच्छा को शांत करने के लिए, मुगलों ने भील के स्थानीय आदिवासी समुदाय से स्थानीय स्तर पर उपलब्ध बेसन से सेवइयां बनाने का अनुरोध किया।और बस यहीं से रतलामी सेव की पहली रेसिपी तैयार हुई। मूल रूप से, सेंवई को दिया गया नाम भील जनजाति के नाम पर भीलडी सेव था, जिन्हें सेव के मूल निर्माता के रूप में श्रेय दिया जाता है।

रतलाम की सेव का जिक्र जाने माने टीवी शो “तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा” से लेकर अमिताभ बच्चन द्वारा संचालित”कौन बनेगा करोड़पति ” जैसे शोज़ में किया गया जिससे इसकी लोकप्रियता और प्रतिष्ठा देश भर के साथ साथ दुनिया भर में हुई है।  रतलाम में सेव के अलग अलग फ्लेवर भी सामने आते है, जैसे की पालक की सेव, लौंग की सेव, टमाटर की सेव, काली मिर्च की सेव, और भी भूत सारी वेराइटी में सेव उपलब्ध होती है।
