Amit Shah Switches to Indian-Made Zoho Mail, Urges Others to Follow

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that he has switched his official email to Zoho Mail, a homegrown email platform developed by Indian tech company Zoho Corporation.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Shah revealed his new email address — amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in — and encouraged others to use it for official correspondence.

The move is being seen as a strong endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swadeshi Technology” initiative, which promotes the use of Indian-developed digital platforms amid rising global concerns about data privacy and dependency on foreign tech giants.

Zoho Corporation, founded in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and headquartered in Chennai, expressed gratitude for the minister’s gesture. The company said Shah’s decision highlights growing trust in India’s indigenous technology ecosystem and supports their vision to make Indian software globally competitive.

Industry observers view this as a symbolic yet significant step towards strengthening India’s digital sovereignty — encouraging government officials and citizens alike to adopt secure, locally built platforms.

Dieting: Extreme Fruit-Only Diet Can Claim A Life Too; This Polish Woman’s Death in Bali Proves the Fact…

A tragic case from Bali has once again highlighted the dangers of extreme dieting and online wellness trends. Karolina Krzyżak, a 27-year-old woman from Poland, passed away on December 11, 2024, after reportedly following a strict fruit-only (fruitarian) diet for several years.

Dieting: Extreme Fruit-Only Diet Can Claim A Life Too; This Polish Woman's Death in Bali Proves the Fact...

Karolina, a former student at the University of Leeds, was found dead in her hotel room, weighing only 27 kilograms at the time of her death. According to local reports, an autopsy revealed that severe malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies were the main causes.

Friends and investigators said Karolina had been battling anorexia since she was 19. Her condition worsened as she became deeply involved in online raw vegan and fruitarian communities, which often promote restrictive eating habits. Despite suffering from serious health issues such as osteoporosis and decaying teeth, she continued to avoid medical treatment.

In early 2024, Karolina had traveled to Bali in search of like-minded people and a supportive community. However, she ended up living mostly in isolation and refused medical help even as her condition deteriorated.

Her death has sparked renewed conversations about the dangers of extreme diets, especially those propagated through social media and online wellness groups. Nutrition experts stress that while plant-based diets can be healthy, completely eliminating essential nutrients can have life-threatening consequences.

In A First, Railways To Allow Passengers To Change Travel Dates For Booked Tickets

0

Starting January, passengers can change the travel date of their confirmed train tickets online without any fee, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told NDTV.

In a move aimed at making train travel more flexible and passenger-friendly, the Indian Railways will soon allow travellers to change the travel date of their confirmed tickets online without any additional fee.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the new facility will come into effect from January 2026, offering relief to millions of passengers who often face last-minute changes in their travel plans.

Currently, passengers who wish to change their journey date must cancel their existing ticket and book a new one — a process that often leads to significant deductions depending on the time of cancellation. “This system is unfair and not in the interest of passengers,” Vaishnav said, adding that instructions have been issued to implement the new, passenger-centric policy.

Under the new rule, travellers will be able to modify their confirmed travel dates through the Indian Railways’ online booking system without incurring any cancellation or service charges. However, the minister clarified that confirmation for the new date will depend on seat availability.

If the fare on the rescheduled date is higher, passengers will have to pay the difference in ticket price.

The change is expected to benefit millions of passengers who currently lose a portion of their fare due to unavoidable cancellations.

As per existing rules, cancelling a confirmed ticket 48 to 12 hours before departure leads to a 25% deduction from the fare, which increases further for cancellations made closer to departure. Once the reservation chart is prepared, no refund is generally granted.

Nobel Physics Prize Awarded for Quantum Mechanics Breakthrough

Recent developments in quantum physics have been recognised with the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics. The award honours pioneering experiments that demonstrated quantum mechanical properties on a macroscopic scale. This achievement has paved the way for advanced quantum technologies that impact daily life and future innovations.

Nobel Physics Prize Awarded for Quantum Mechanics Breakthrough

Background of the Nobel Prize in Physics

The Nobel Prize in Physics is one of the most prestigious global awards. Established in 1901 by Alfred Nobel’s will, it celebrates outstanding contributions to science. The prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. It includes a monetary reward shared among laureates. Past recipients include Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr, pioneers of modern physics.

2025 Laureates and Their Contributions

The 2025 prize was awarded to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis. Their work began in the mid-1980s using superconducting electronic circuits. They showed that quantum effects could be observed on a large scale, beyond the microscopic realm. Their experiments revealed how quantum mechanics could be harnessed in practical devices.

Significance of the Quantum Experiments

These experiments confirmed that quantum physics is not confined to tiny particles. The findings proved that quantum states could be controlled in macroscopic circuits. This opened the door to quantum computing, sensing, and cryptography. Such technologies promise faster computing, secure communication, and sensitive measurement tools.

Impact on Modern Technology

Quantum technology underpins many everyday devices. Transistors in microchips rely on quantum principles. Mobile phones, computers, and digital systems benefit from these advances. The laureates emphasised that their work forms the basis of much modern electronics. Quantum mechanics remains fundamental to ongoing technological progress.

Global Collaboration and Academic Roles

The winners come from diverse backgrounds and institutions. Clarke is British-born and works at the University of California, Berkeley. Devoret, originally from France, holds positions at Yale University and the University of California, Santa Barbara. Martinis, an American, was head of Google’s Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab. Their international collaboration marks the global nature of scientific research.

Broader Context of the 2025 Nobel Awards

The physics prize is the second Nobel awarded each year after medicine. It follows the recognition of breakthroughs in immune system research. The chemistry prize follows the physics award. The Nobel ceremony is held annually in Stockholm on 10 December, Alfred Nobel’s death anniversary. The peace prize is presented separately in Oslo.

The iconic duo Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are nearing three decades of togetherness — a journey filled with love, challenges, and triumphs. From teenage sweethearts to Bollywood’s most admired power couple, their bond has only grown stronger with time. Let’s take a closer look at their fairytale romance that has stood the test of time.

Teenage Lovers

Their love story began in 1984, when a young Shah Rukh Khan first laid eyes on Gauri Chhibber at a mutual friend’s party. What started as a casual teenage crush soon blossomed into a deep bond. The two began meeting more often, and before long, they were inseparable.

For years, their love thrived quietly as they navigated the uncertainties of youth — a romance that would later become one of India’s most talked-about love stories.

Love Against All Odds

After nearly six to seven years of courtship, the couple decided to tie the knot. But their journey to marriage wasn’t without hurdles. Being from different faiths — Shah Rukh a Muslim and Gauri a Hindu — the two faced family opposition and religious challenges.

Yet, their unwavering commitment helped them overcome every obstacle. Their love story became a testament to perseverance, proving that love can indeed rise above social and cultural divides.

A Marriage of Two Traditions

In 1991, Shah Rukh and Gauri sealed their love forever — first through a Hindu wedding ceremony, followed by a Nikkah. This blend of traditions beautifully symbolised the respect they held for each other’s faiths.

Over the years, they’ve continued to celebrate both Eid and Diwali with equal devotion, setting a remarkable example of unity and mutual respect in a world often divided by religion.

A Bond Built on Trust and Respect

Through fame, films, and family, Shah Rukh and Gauri’s relationship has remained unshakable. They’ve supported each other through every high and low — building not just a family, but an enduring partnership based on trust, admiration, and equality.

Their love continues to inspire millions who see in them a rare mix of glamour, grace, and groundedness.

From Lovers to Business Partners

Her work includes stunning spaces for celebrities like Sidharth Malhotra and Karan Johar, and she has also launched her own design label, Gauri Khan Designs.

Together, the couple ventured into business, co-founding Red Chillies Entertainment, a leading film production house that has produced several of SRK’s iconic films.

Love That Continues to Inspire

Nearly three decades later, Shah Rukh and Gauri remain the epitome of enduring love and partnership. From teenage lovers to life partners and now successful co-entrepreneurs, their journey proves that true love doesn’t just survive fame — it thrives with it.

Indian Air Force Day 2025: Why Hindon Air Force Station Is An Accidental IAF Base

0

Hindon Air Force Station, now one of the Indian Air Force’s most prominent bases, has a story unlike any other. Surprisingly, it was never meant to be a military airfield at all. Its journey from a planned civil airport to a strategic IAF hub is a fascinating tale of necessity, adaptation, and foresight.

Back in the 1960s, Palam Airfield — which we now know as Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport — was primarily a military base with a small civil enclave. It also housed the Headquarters of the Operations Command. But as India’s skies began to buzz with the new generation of commercial jets like the Comet and Boeing 707, the once-manageable air traffic at Palam quickly became overwhelming.

To ease the pressure, the government decided to build a new civil airport near Ghaziabad, on the eastern side of the Yamuna River. The idea was visionary — a modern airport dedicated solely to civilian flights, freeing Palam for defence operations. Construction began, and hopes were high.

However, fate had other plans. As the project neared completion, a critical flaw emerged — connectivity. The only bridge linking the site to Delhi was the old steel bridge near Red Fort, a narrow and overburdened route. Building new bridges required funds that simply didn’t exist at the time. Without proper access, the grand civil aviation dream started to crumble.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) soon lost enthusiasm for the project, leaving a nearly finished airfield without a clear purpose. That’s when the Indian Air Force stepped in. The half-built civilian airport was handed over to the IAF, which transformed it into a fully functional airbase.

On June 1, 1965, Air Chief Marshal Arjan Singh inaugurated the 28 Wing at Hindon, officially marking the birth of Hindon Air Force Station. What began as a civilian project had now become a key military installation — one that would later host powerful aircraft, ceremonial parades, and national celebrations.

Interestingly, because of its civilian origins, Hindon had a few quirks. Unlike other airbases maintained by the Military Engineer Services (MES), Hindon’s infrastructure was managed by the Public Works Department (PWD) — a rare distinction that, according to some accounts, continues even today.

From an abandoned civil dream to a symbol of India’s air power, Hindon Air Force Station stands as a reminder that sometimes, history’s best outcomes are born from unexpected turns.
