Retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Krishna Mohan has been appointed as the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the body responsible for managing the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. His elevation comes just ten months after he was inducted as a trustee, following the resignation of former General Secretary Champat Rai.
Krishna Mohan had filed the Trust’s FIR in the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Lalla temple, an incident that eventually led to Champat Rai stepping down. His appointment now places him in one of the most influential positions in the Trust.
From Forest Officer to Ram Mandir Trust Leader
A 1977-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre, Krishna Mohan retired in 2012 after a distinguished career in public service. Before joining the IFS, he briefly worked with India’s Department of Atomic Energy. His years in forest administration are credited with giving him extensive experience in governance, management and institutional administration.
Following retirement, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 2012. Over the years, he rose through the organisation’s ranks, serving as Nagar Sanghchalak, Zila Sanghchalak, Prant Sanghchalak for the Awadh region and eventually Kshetra Sanghchalak for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Trustee to General Secretary in Less Than a Year
Krishna Mohan was appointed a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in September 2025, filling the vacancy created after the demise of trustee Kameshwar Chaupal.
Within just ten months, he was entrusted with the role of General Secretary, reflecting the confidence reposed in him by the Trust leadership and the RSS.
He had also served as one of the Yajmans during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in January 2024.
A Native of Hardoi
Krishna Mohan hails from Shahabad in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. He completed his M.Sc. in Geology from University of Lucknow before joining government service.
His father, Dharmveer Singh, worked with the Indian Railways. Krishna Mohan comes from a large family with two brothers and four sisters. His younger brother, Mahendra Singh, is a doctor at Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow.
He is married to Kusumlata. The couple has a son, Saurav Mohan, who works with the Department of Posts in Lucknow, and a daughter, Sneha Mohan, a government doctor in Noida. Both are married.
