Grand preparations took place for Panihati Chida Dahi Mahotsav at Shri Krishna Balram Temple. The temple is located in Jagatpura. Thakur ji was decorated with five thousand lotus flowers and 21 types of dishes made of chida curd and rabdi. In the evening, for Jal Vihar to Thakur ji, a grand lotus pond was made in the Mathura Garden of the temple, which was decorated with flowers, with Harinam Sankirtan.
Devotees danced in Sankirtan and enjoyed Lord Jal Vihar Leela and received God’s blessings. Raghunatha Das Goswami, one of the 6 Goswamis of Vrindavan, on this day, offers a special bhog of curd to Lord Nityanada Prabhu and celebrates this festival with Hari Naam Sankirtan and receives the grace of the Lord.
Panihati Festival Leela
The Panihati Chida-Dahi festival is celebrated to commemorate the meeting of Srila Raghunatha Dasa Goswami with Sri Nityananda Prabhu for the first time in a village named Panihati near Kolkata in West Bengal.
Srila Raghunatha dasa was punished by Nityananda Prabhu for having to arrange chida-curd prasadam for all the thousands of devotees who came here. Srila Raghunatha dasa Goswami was very pleased to hear this and arranged a large amount of chida-curd prasadam and offered food to the Lord. Since then this festival is also known as Dand Mahotsav (festival of punishment). It is celebrated on the Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyestha (May-June).

Thakur ji’s Jal Vihar
A special kund has been constructed in the Mathura garden of the temple where Thakur ji will be taken in a palanquin, where Thakur ji’s Jal Vihar is done with Harinam Sankirtan and Mahaarti is performed along with Panchamrit Abhishek.
