Ashwini Vaishnaw: Meet the new Railways & IT minister who won hearts of Vajpayee & Modi with his hard work serving as IAS

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the newly inducted minister for Railways and IT in Narendra Modi’s cabinet, hails from Rajasthan who has been an apple of the eye of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee and has also managed to win the heart of PM Narendra Modi with his hard work.

He has been accommodated in the ministry via Odisha quota. Vaishnav completed his education from Jodhpur and went to pursue his M.Tech from IIT Kanpur. After IIT, he went for UPSC and became an IAS officer.

Vaishnav was blue-eyed boy of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee who also became a favourite of Modi due to his exceptional working.

Hence, he was sent to Rajya Sabha from Odisha and now has been inducted in the ministry.

Ashwin Vaishnav’s father Daulal shifted to Jodhpur many years back from Pali and hence Ashwin finished his education from Jodhpur. He completed his BTech from MBM Engineering college Jodhpur and then went to Kanpur.

He later went to America’s Wharton University and pursued MBA. In 1994, he became IAS and won the heart of Vajpayee with his hard work who brought him to the PMO. Here he came in touch with Modi. In 2004, after Vajpayee’s defeat, he resigned and went to the US only to return after a few years to join as disaster management advisor with Odisha government.

Looking at his working, Modi inducted him in Rajya Sabha two years back. He has two sons studying in London.
