RRR rocks at the Golden Globes

Indian film RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli,  rocked at the Golden Globe awards. The film ultimately won the award for Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu” out of the two categories it was nominated for. However, it missed out on the award for Best Non-English Language Film, which was won by Argentina’s 1985.

The film speaks the story of two freedom fighters, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju, in British-occupied India during the 1920s, and features Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles, along with Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris. The film rocked box office, grossing over ₹ 1,200 crore globally. RRR’s director, SS Rajamouli, and stars, Jr NTR and Ram Charan were in attendance at the event, with Ram Charan being accompanied by his wife Upasana Kamineni.

RRR already has many credits to its kitty which include a win for Best Director for Rajamouli at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. The film also submitted itself for consideration in various Oscar categories and is expected to be nominated in at least one category, if not more.

The Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globe Awards were held in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael. RRR’s win for Best Original Song serves as yet another recognition for the film on a global scale, and with potential Oscar nominations being on the horizon, it seems that the success of the film is far from over.
