LG Electronics India’s Managing Director, Hong Ju Jeon, stole the spotlight by delivering his entire speech in fluent Hindi as the company made its historic debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on October 14. Starting with the traditional greeting “Namaste”, he thanked NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan, the Indian government, SEBI, and LG’s partners for supporting the company’s vision.
“Namaste, mananiye atheeti, vishesh roop se NSE CEO, Shree Ashish Chauhan ji. Iss atihasik avsar par, LG Electronics ke saath shaamil hone ke lie, aap sabhi ka dhanyavaad,” said Hong Ju.
“Aant me mai Bharat sarakar, SEBI, NSE aur humare partners ko bhi tahe dil se dhanyavad karta hu,” he added.
The LG India IPO, a complete Offer-for-Sale of ₹11,607 crore by the Korean parent company, witnessed a record-breaking 55x oversubscription, with shares surging up to 50% on listing. The IPO became one of the biggest issues of 2025 and the first in India to cross ₹4 lakh crore in total subscription value.
Social media users widely praised Hong Ju Jeon’s efforts, noting it was rare for a South Korean CEO to speak in Hindi instead of Korean or English. Many called it a “wholesome” gesture and a sign of LG’s commitment to going local.
Hong Ju Jeon has been the Managing Director of LG Electronics India since January 2023. Under his leadership, the company has seen significant growth in the Indian consumer electronics market.
