Lokrang 2021 will be held at the Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) from December 16 to 26 under the auspices of ‘ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Department of Art and Culture, the Government of Rajasthan, and Rural Non – Farm Development Agency (RUDA).
This will be the 24th edition of the the event which is a well-known festival known for the performance of folk artistes. Folk artistes from the entire country will present their mesmerizing performances. The program will be inaugurated by the Rajasthan Art and Culture Minister, Dr B D Kalla on 16 December at 6.30 pm. On this occasion, the Principal Secretary Art and Culture as well as the Director-General of JKK, Gayatri Rathore, and Rajeshwar Singh, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of RUDA will also be present as the Guest of Honour.
National Folk Dance Event and National Handicraft Fair
The Lokrang 2021 will have two parts: the Folk Dances at the Madhyavarti from 16 to 26 December each evening at 6.30 pm.
Over a whopping 650 performers will present their dances from the states of West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Assam, Odisha, Manipur, Punjab, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, etc.
On this occasion, the Rajasthani language writing festival 2021 for young writers will also be organised.
The second part will be held at the Shilpgram in JKK from 16 to 26 December, from 12 noon to 9.30 pm. Rajasthan Non – Farm Development Agency (RUDA) will facilitate in displaying and showcasing handicraft items from different states.
Exhibition and fair will be organised and sale of artistic handicraft products made by award-winning craftsmen of the country.
In this, furniture of Saharanpur, Banarasi sarees, Blue pottery of Jaipur, Wood carving of Karnataka, Sanganer print, etc will be displayed and sold. Along with this, there will also be an opportunity to taste the cuisines and delicacies of different states of the country such as Rajasthan, Bihar, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Lucknow, Madhya Pradesh.
Along with this, apart from the main presentations, folk presentations will also be organized in the Shilpgram.
