Wanna see criss crossing underground tunnels connecting you from one palace to another? Visit Amer Fort which is home to a few underground tunnels and connect Amer to Jaigarh Fort.
A part of these tunnels are now restored, and now open to public.

1. Architecture: The Amer Fort reflects a perfect example of Rajasthani architecture which mesmerises one and all with its aesthetic and exquisite beauty.
2. Top tourist attraction: It is one of the top tourist attractions of Jaipur, and sits atop a small hill. Amer Fort is located at a distance of about 11 km from the main city.
3. A palace complex: The magnificent Amer Fort is an extensive palace complex that has been built with pale yellow and pink sandstone, and with white marble. The fort is divided into four main sections that are graced with their own courtyards.
4. The Light and sound show: The light and sound show within the fort marks an astounding sojourn of the history of the fort.
5. The grand entrance: The entry to the Amer Fort is through the Suraj Pol; however, if you arrive by car, then you enter via the Chand Pol. Both these gates take you to the Jaleb Chowk, which is the main courtyard.
6. The King’s quarters: The fort consists of a number of sections, including the King’s quarters, zenana (where the women lived), gardens, temples, etc.
Amer Fort’s History
Amer was once the capital of Jaipur state. Maharaja Man Singh I commenced its construction in 1592 on the remains of an 11th-century fort. The capital was shifted to Jaipur in 1727, however, the successive rulers continued adding to this pristine fort.
It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013, as being a part of a group of six hill forts in Rajasthan.

Amber Fort is around 13 km or 20 minutes northeast of Jaipur’s city center.
Reaching out at Amer Fort
There are content buses plying that depart from near the Hawa Mahal in the Old City. They’re crowded but will only cost you 15 rupees (or 25 rupees if you want air-conditioning). Also, you can take an auto rickshaw to and fro from Amer Fort. There are regular taxis playing too which charge Rs 850 rupees.
In fact, Amber Fort is also included on the itinerary of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation’s itinerary.

How to reach
You can either walk uphill, ride on elephant back, go by jeep, golf cart, or take your vehicle.
