In the 17th century, the Burmese invaded the land of Ayutthaya and eradicated everything there was present in the city. Most of the things that were the highlights of the town were destroyed by scrumbles.

While the Burmese were destroying the whole city, they beheaded all the Buddha statues to tear apart the beliefs of people. In 1991, the historic city of Ayutthaya was added to the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.
