Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives for war-footing preparations ahead of Mauni Amavasya on January 29, anticipating a massive gathering of 8-10 crore devotees at Sangam in Prayagraj. During a high-level meeting on Wednesday, the CM reviewed the turnout of over 6 crore devotees during the Mahakumbh celebrations on Paush Purnima and Makar Sankranti and called for enhanced arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming event.
Focus on Transport Coordination and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for seamless transportation arrangements. He instructed officials to collaborate with the railways to ensure the regular and timely operation of special Mahakumbh trains. Special emphasis was placed on increasing the frequency of both regular and special trains to accommodate the anticipated surge of devotees traveling to Prayagraj.
In addition to train services, CM Yogi directed that buses from every district of the state operate non-stop to Prayagraj. He further stressed the importance of deploying shuttle buses and electric buses for the convenience of pilgrims, ensuring uninterrupted mobility throughout the event.
Infrastructure and Utilities
To handle the influx of devotees, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of uninterrupted power and water supply. He directed officials to ensure 24×7 availability of electricity and clean drinking water across all sectors of the fair area.
The CM also instructed officials to barricade the ghats to enhance safety and ensure that sanitation remains a priority. “Regular cleaning of toilets must be carried out to maintain hygiene standards,” he added.
Strengthening Mobile Networks
Acknowledging the need for uninterrupted communication during the massive gathering, CM Yogi directed officials to coordinate with mobile network operators to strengthen connectivity in and around the fair area. This move aims to ensure seamless communication for pilgrims and officials managing the event.
