Virat Kohli to step down as a T20 captain after the T20 world cup this October!

The rumour of Virat Kohli quitting the T20 captaincy was going on from past three days. But on September 16 Virat himself announced this through his social media handles. Virat posted a picture of his announcement with the reason behind his decision and that he will continue to serve team India to best of his ability.

Kohli stated that the he is feeling immense work load and pressure because it has been 9 years since he is playing for team India and 5-6 year since his captaincy. He said he will continue his captaincy in Test and ODI cricket but after the T20 world cup in October , 2021 he will quit his job as a captain for T20. This was a mutual decision after discussing it with all his colleagues, Rohit Sharma and the team of BCCI and the President Mr. Sourav Ganguly. He thanked his team and fans for their immense support and love throughout his journey.

Kohli is considered as one of the greatest batsman of all time. In 2008 under his captaincy the Under-19 Cricket team of India won the World cup in Malaysia.

After that he debuted under Team India in the age of 19.  Kohli was appointed the vice-captain of the ODI team in 2012 and in early 2017 he was appointed as the Captain on team India after Dhone stepped down  from his position. He also plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and is the captain of the team since 2013.

Kohli holds the world record He holds the world record for being the fastest batsman to 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, 11,000 and 12,000 runs in ODI cricket. He also holds the world record of being fastest to 23,000 international runs.Among Indian batsmen, Kohli has the best ever Test rating (937 points), ODI rating (911 points) and T20I rating (897 points).

Virat Kohli has given so much to Indian cricket team, breaking and making enormous records and has won many sports and national awards.

Kohli is just stepping down from the T20 captaincy to focus more on his batting and will continue to give his best in the cricket field and will continue to serve India with best of his capability.
