Mahendra Singh Dhoni B’day special: The ‘Captain Cool’ of the Indian Cricket loves football and badminton too!

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, also called as captain cool of the Indian cricket team, celebrates his birthday on July 7. It’s a kind of week-long celebration being made on twitter since last one week as the fans of this wicketkeeper batsman have refused to stay calm and are busy making loud cheers on the day their great hero was born. 

Let’s know about the unknown facts on Dhoni: 

Besides cricket, Dhoni is also fond of football and badminton and played the former before coming to cricket. 

The captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MSD is a huge fan of Manchester United and his jersey no.7 is a tribute to the Premier League side.

Born in Ranchi, he hails from a Hindu Rajput family with his paternal village Lwali situated in the Langara block of the Almora District of Uttarakhand. 

Dhoni’s parents moved from Uttarakhand to Ranchi where his father Pan Singh worked in junior management positions in MECON. 

Dhoni has a sister Jayanti Gupta and a brother Narendra Singh Dhoni.

MS Dhoni was conferred the rank of honorary lieutenant-colonel in the Indian Territorial Army for his contribution to cricket. 

In August 2019, he completed a two-week stint with the Territorial Army in Jammu and Kashmir.

Awarded the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade twice, MS Dhoni was also captain of the ICC World ODI XI five times while featuring in the side eight times. Captain Cool announced his retirement from International Cricket on 15 August 2020.
