IPL 2021: Look how cricket lovers react after Virat Kolhi announced stepping down as RCB captain

IPL 2021: As Virat Kohli announces to step down from RCB captaincy after IPL 2021, look how players across are reacting…

Virat Kohli, on 19th September, announced through an official video on the Twitter handle of Royal Challengers Bangalore that he is stepping down from his role as the captain of RCB after this VIVO IPL 2021.

Kohli has been with RCB franchise since 2008 ( the establishment of IPL) and was appointed as RCB’s captain in 2013 and since then Kohli has been in the role of the captain for the team. Since 2008 Kohli has played 199 IPL matches for RCB and has scored 6076 runs. But under his captaincy RCB never got a chance to win the trophy.

Through his video he stated that he will no longer be a captain but will continue as a RCB player till his last IPL match.

He also stated that this thing was on his mind from past few days and he took this decision because of the immense workload from past few years.

Prathmesh Mishra, the chairman of RCB said ““Virat Kohli is one of the finest cricketers, and has been a true asset to RCB. His impeccable work ethics and leadership skills has been phenomenal. We respect and support this decision and would like to thank Virat for his incredible contribution to the RCB leadership group.”

Meanwhile Gautam Gambhir, ex-captain of KKR, said, “Yes, it does (the timing of the decision surprises me). Just before the 2nd leg of the tournament. If you want to do that, you probably do it after the tournament. Because it makes the team unsettled and emotional as well,” Gambhir told Star Sports.

Kohli took RCB to the third spot in the first leg of the IPL 2021.
