Himachal Pradesh Day is observed each year on January 25th to commemorate the establishment of a separate state. Himachal Pradesh was a part of Punjab state including Haryana, Chandigarh and some parts of Delhi before gaining the status of a separate state.
Himachal Pradesh Day is also known by other names like Himachal Pradesh Statehood Day and Himachal Diwas.
It was on 18th December 1970 that the state of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament and the new state was granted its statehood on 25th January, making it the 18th state of the Indian Republic.
On this day, various functions and activities are held to felicitate the achievers in various field of activities. Government-organised programmes are presided over by important dignitaries like the Chief Minister, Governor and others.
State’s achievements are put forth before the people so that they also get inspired to do the same. Message of peace and prosperity for the people of the state and development of the country is also conveyed.
