Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Pat Cummins made a generous contribution of $50,000 for India’s fight against COVID-19 and has simultaneously urged his colleagues in the IPL to make contributions.
“India is a country I have come to love dearly over the years and the people here are one of the warmest and kindest I have met. To know so many are suffering so much this time saddens me greatly,” Cummins said in his statement.
“There has been quite a bit of discussion over here as to whether it is appropriate for IPL to continue while COVID-19 infection rates remain high. I am advised that the Indian Government is of the view that playing the IPL while the population is in lockdown provides a few hours of joy and respite each day at an otherwise difficult time for the country,” he said.
“As players we are privileged to have a platform that allows us to reach millions of people that we can use for good. With that in mind, I have made a contribution to the “PM Cares Fund,” specifically to purchase oxygen supplies for India’s hospitals,” the Australian seamer wrote.
“I encourage my fellow IPL players – and anyone around else the world who has been touched by India’s passion and generosity – to contribute. I will kick it off with $50,000,” he added.
Cummins was signed for a record INR 15.5 crore (US$ 2 million approx.) last year and has been a part of a diminishing pool of Australian cricketers participating in IPL 2021.
Two other cricketers from Australia, namely Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Andrew Tye have all pulled out of the remainder of the tournament.

Srinivasa Ramanujan! This man knows no introduction for he is the one who pioneered in mathematics, made extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series & continued fractions.
While he lived only 32 years & left the world in 1920, he discovered ‘Infinity’.
He was “discovered” by G. H. Hardy and J. E. Littlewood, two world-class mathematicians at Cambridge. Ramanujan enjoyed an extremely fruitful period of collaboration with them from 1914 to 1919.
Unfortunately, his mathematical career was curtailed with his health problems; he returned to India and died when he was only 32 years old.
A son of a clerk from Erode, he stunned the world with his mathematics prowess.
Later he became one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal Society & was the only second Indian to enjoy the esteemed honour.
In 1841, Ardaseer Cursetjee, a shipbuilder and engineer was the first Indian to be elected to the Royal Society
In fact, Ramanujan was also the first Indian to be elected a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.
Even in that short life independently compiled nearly 3,900 results. Most were novel. Interesting thing his many works are still attracting mathematicians.
He worked in isolation many a times, as a result he also proved things which were already done by others at that time.
His famous quote; An equation for me has no meaning,” he once said, unless it expresses a thought of God.
The year after his death, Nature, a British Weekly Scientific Journal listed Ramanujan among other distinguished scientists and mathematicians on a “Calendar of Scientific Pioneers” who had achieved eminence.
In fact, even today, when we use ATMs to withdraw money from banks, we use the theory discovered by Ramanujan. Salute to this hero…!
Daniel Kaluuya is the first Black Briton to win an acting Oscar in the award’s 93-year history. He wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton in ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
Kaluuya played Chicago Blank Panther leader Fred Hampton, killed in an FBI raid in 1969.
The actor thanked his mother in his acceptance speech and also mentioned his parents having sex. The camera tilted toward his mother sitting in the audience who looked confused listening to his son who said, “It’s incredible. My mom met my dad, they had sex, it’s amazing. Do you know what I’m saying? I’m here, do you know what I mean? I’m so happy to be alive, so I’m going to celebrate that tonight.”
Initially, he said, “I’d like to thank my mom,” Kaluuya said, as his mother teared up while watching. “You gave me everything. You gave me your factory settings. So I could stand at my fullest height.”
His fans were left in splits with his speech and started sharing funny videos and tweets on Twitter.
The 93rd Oscars were held on April 25, 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and international locations via satellite.
Super Pink Moon will add to he beauty of the sky today on April 26, 2021 and shall remain at its peak on 11.33 EDT.
You can either call it as super pink moon or pink supermoon!
No matter what you want to call it, you’re in for a visual treat when the full moon rises in the night sky April 26.
You can either catch it in person or livestream it online.
While this moon is known as the pink moon, however, that’s not a reference to its actual color.
As per NASA, its “a name that comes from the herb moss pink, also known as creeping phlox, moss phlox, or mountain phlox, which is native to the eastern US, and one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring.”
The pink moon is a supermoon, which means it may appear slightly larger and brighter than usual.
This happens when the full moon is near its closest point to Earth.
The moon doesn’t orbit earth, our planet in a perfect circle, so sometimes it’s closer to us than at other times.
The easiest way to catch the moon is to simply step outside after dark and look for the big round lantern in the sky. If you have binoculars handy, be sure to take a closer peek at its beautifully pockmarked surface.
