World Heritage Day, also called as International Day for Monuments and Sites, is celebrated across the globe on April 18. This aims at restoring and preserving the diverse cultural heritage that makes the world what it is.

Each country and community has its own history and its remnants are present, either in the form of monuments or items in a museum. Monuments form a very important part of this. Therefore, it is extremely important to conserve and protect them from any kind of harm that can tamper with its integrity.

History of World Heritage Day

This day, originally, was suggested by the International Council of Monuments and Sites in 1982. UNESCO accepted their proposal in 1983 during their 22nd General Conference.

World Heritage Day 2021 Theme

The theme of the day this year is ‘Complex Pasts: Diverse Futures.’

Not everything in our history has been positive as there are a few things which are violent and probably best to be forgotten. While a community can think this way, others can look at this from another point of view. A monument is constructed to represent it which might be a contested point of view.

Significance of World Heritage Day

The day plays an important role in preserving the cultural integrity of a community or country. We have an onus to save our rich culture from any kind of harm. When we join hands, then only our history has a chance to survive on its own.

Quotes on World Heritage Day

It is our duty to preserve the culture and heritage of our ancestors. Happy World Heritage Day!

Greetings on #WorldHeritageDay. The International Day for Monuments and Sites also known as World Heritage Day. Let us all work to protect, promote & preserve our rich cultural heritage.

Sonu Sood: I-T survey on premises linked to actor Sonu Sood in Mumbai, Lucknow

0

Income tax department officials ‘surveyed’ around six properties in Mumbai and Lucknow, which are all linked to Bollywood actor Sonu Sood on Wednesday.

Officials confirmed that the visit of the I-T officials, which was not termed as raid, was made in connection with an alleged tax evasion probe.

Reports said that a real estate deal is under the scanner of the income tax department.

The I-T survey has been reported soon after Sood became the brand ambassador of the Delhi government’s mentorship programme.

He received a national and humanitarian acclaim for helping people during the pandemic.

Sonu Sood and his Bollywood Connect

Sonu Sood is a well-known Bollywood star, however, since last one year, he garnered the image of a messiah who helped lakhs of migrants, students and others to reach out to their destination when lockdown was clamped in India in 2020 to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s figure out why Sood is considered as a real life hero:

In May 2020, Sood helped thousands of stranded migrants to reach their homes by arranging buses, special trains and chartered flights for them during the lockdown clamped in the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In July 2020, he arranged a chartered flight to bring home over 1,500 Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan, flying them from Bishkek to Varanasi.

On 25 July 2020, a video of a farmer’s daughters ploughing a field, like bulls with a yoke on their shoulders, went viral over social media and Sood was quick to send the family a tractor.

His charity during the pandemic was lauded, and he was hailed as a real-life hero in India.

On 5 August 2020, he helped 101 medical students, predominantly from Tamil Nadu, who were stranded in Moscow during the lockdown, reach Chennai safely on a chartered flight arranged by him after they contacted his team for help.

On his birthday he launched a website and app called Pravasi Rojgar to help migrant workers find suitable jobs amid the pandemic.

On 19 February 2021, Sood launched an initiative ‘Ilaaj India’ platform to provide healthcare services for needy people.

On April 15, Sood sent 10 oxygen generators for Indore patients and urged all to help each other.
