Rukmani Kumari has set up a team, which is constantly in contact with hospitals and doctors, administration officers and others who can resolve their challenges such as providing oxygen cylinders, refilling them, providing beds, food and what not!

Rukshmani Kumari is the state president of All India Professionals’ Congress and proudly acclaims herself to be the proud wife of an Army officer. She has also formed an NGO Star Foundation.

China’s Sinopharm is sixth Covid Vaccine approved by WHO for emergency use

China’s Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine has become the sixth vaccine to be approved by WHO for emergency use and is the first Chinese jab to receive the WHO’s green light.

WHO approved the two-dose vaccine, which is already being deployed in dozens of countries around the world on May 7.

The other vaccines being approved by the WHO are Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, and the AstraZeneca jab being produced at separate sites in India and in South Korea.

The Sinopharm vaccine is in use in 42 territories around the world and fourth behind AstraZeneca (166), Pfizer-BioNTech (94) and Modern-a (46), according to an AFP tally.

It is also being used in counties like Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Hungary, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Peru, UAE, Serbia and Seychelles, among others besides China.

.“This afternoon, WHO gave emergency use listing to Sinopharm Beijing’s Covid-19 vaccine, making it the sixth vaccine to receive WHO validation for safety, efficacy and quality,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference.

* A village boy: Ella comes from a village in Tamil Nadu and was born to a middle-income family of farmers in a village near Thiruthani

* He came from farmers family: There were no businessmen, entrepreneurs or professionals in his family but only farmers.

* He studied agriculture to become a farmer: After his schooling, he decided to study agriculture at Bengaluru’s University of Agricultural Sciences, however, his father did not approve of it as he believed that nobody became a farmer simply by studying agriculture. However, Ekka got interested in the subject and wanted to be a farmer.

* He worked in Bayer to earn money: Next, in order to provide financial support to his family, Ella worked in the agriculture division of Bayer, a pharmaceutical and crop science company.

* How he chose molecular biology: This time, he chose molecular biology, and there was no looking back.

* He opened his laboratory: He started with a small lab in Hyderabad to develop a Hepatitis vaccine with a yeast molecular gene in 1995 which turned into Bharat Biotech a year later.

* The first company in Hyderabad’s biotechnology park: In fact, this was the first company to be set up in Hyderabad’s biotechnology park, Genome Valley.

* And then Bharat Biotech was founded: Ella co-founded Bharat Biotech with wife Suchitra, who brought to the company her expertise in marketing, business development and operations. An economics graduate from the University of Madras, Suchitra studied business development in the US before earning a postgraduate diploma in patent law from NALSAR,

As the world celebrates Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary on May 7, not many are aware of his first love which scripted a silent love story but met an unfortunate end with a suicide of Kadambari Devi, Rabindranath’s elder brother Jyotindranath’s wife, who died after 4 months of his marriage.

Rabindranath Tagore, a writer, poet and painter was born in a rich upper-caste well-educated Pirali Brahmin family in Jorasanko mansion who rose to fame with his writings and paintings too.

As the world knows about his writings, dramas and poems, not many are aware of his first love which scripted a silent love story but met an unfortunate end with a suicide of Kadambari Devi, Rabindranath’s elder brother Jyotindranath’s wife, who died after 4 months of his marriage.

Kadambari Devi was nine when she entered as a bride in Rabindranath’s family when he was seven. Being Rabindranath’s childhood companion, they both grew up together.

After demise of Rabindranath’s mother, their friendship was more like a motherly affection which transformed into a romantic relationship and progressed via three stages; firstly-as his childhood princess, secondly-as a mother and thirdly- when two of them fell in love with poetry together.

Kadambari Devi was known as the woman who looked after Rabindranath in his early life and was a part of his success in his later life. Tagore called her ‘Hecate’, which is a Greek goddess associated with the moon.

Like Ravindranath, his elder brother Jyotindranath had multiple skills as he was good at painting, editing, and music. He looked after his family business and started his own venture which brought in a heavy loss and soon he opted out of it. Being an open-minded person, he helped Kadambari Devi to study and also taught her horse-riding. With his busy schedule, could hardly spare much time for his wife. Hence, she felt lonely and starved for companionship.

In 1883, when Tagore turned 22, he tied the know with Bhabatarini Devi, 11-year-old girl and renamed her Mrinalini.

Kadambari Devi never wanted Tagore to get married so she secretly tried to stop the marriage but remained unsuccessful.

On April 19, 1884, Kadambari Devi committed suicide by consuming opium, exactly 4 months and 10 days after Tagore’s marriage.

Tagore was shaken by her sudden death. It is said that he dedicated many of his poems to her.

In a meeting with Nandalal Bose, Rabindranath confessed that many paintings of his with woman’s face were created keeping Kadambari’s face in mind. In fact, this confession was made when Tagore was 70 years old.

Complete lockdown has been imposed by Rajasthan government from May 10 (5 am) to May 24 (5 am) amid the surge in coronavirus cases.

All kind of marriages remain cancelled till May 31, 2021.

No DJ, Marriage reception, party etc will be allowed till the said date.

However, court marriages and weddings at home are permitted with 11 guests.

Neither bandsmen nor tents will be allowed for the function.

Marriage gardens and wedding venues shall remain closed and they shall have to return the funds deposited for booking purpose of wedding in these due dates.

MNREGA projects shall remain suspended.

Travelling within state remains suspended till the lockdown period.

Rabindranath Tagore, born on May 7, 1861, has been a prolific writer who garnered worldwide fame being the first non-European to win a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his selected poetry collection titled, ‘Gitanjali’.

Tagore contributed to poetry, songs, short stories and plays in a big way.

He started writing poetry at the young age of 8 and published his first collection at 16.

His father wanted him to become a barrister but he opted for an independent study of Shakespeare, Religio Medici, Coriolanus, and Antony and Cleopatra.

Eight Asiatic lions testing COVID positive makes it as the first known case of humans infecting felines, turning them sick in India

Eight Asiatic lions at Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park tested positive for COVID-19, perhaps making it the first known case of the human infecting the felines, making them sick in India.

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology- Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species (CCMB-LaCONES) informed the forest authorities that the RT-PCR tests of these big cats were positive.

The CCMB carried out detailed investigation of the samples for genome sequencing to find out if the strain came from human beings or not. The scientist asked officials to take precautions and start medication.
