Lokrang 2021 to be held at JKK Jaipur from Dec 16-26

Lokrang 2021 will be held at the Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) from December 16 to 26 under the auspices of ‘ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Department of Art and Culture, the Government of Rajasthan, and Rural Non – Farm Development Agency (RUDA).

This will be the 24th edition of the the event which is a well-known festival known for the performance of folk artistes. Folk artistes from the entire country will present their mesmerizing performances. The program will be inaugurated by the Rajasthan Art and Culture Minister, Dr B D Kalla on 16 December at 6.30 pm. On this occasion, the Principal Secretary Art and Culture as well as the Director-General of JKK, Gayatri Rathore, and Rajeshwar Singh, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of RUDA will also be present as the Guest of Honour.

National Folk Dance Event and National Handicraft Fair

The Lokrang 2021 will have two parts: the Folk Dances at the Madhyavarti from 16 to 26 December each evening at 6.30 pm.

Over a whopping 650 performers will present their dances from the states of West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Assam, Odisha, Manipur, Punjab, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, etc.

On this occasion, the Rajasthani language writing festival 2021 for young writers will also be organised.

The second part will be held at the Shilpgram in JKK from 16 to 26 December, from 12 noon to 9.30 pm. Rajasthan Non – Farm Development Agency (RUDA) will facilitate in displaying and showcasing handicraft items from different states.

Exhibition and fair will be organised and sale of artistic handicraft products made by award-winning craftsmen of the country.

In this, furniture of Saharanpur, Banarasi sarees, Blue pottery of Jaipur, Wood carving of Karnataka, Sanganer print, etc will be displayed and sold. Along with this, there will also be an opportunity to taste the cuisines and delicacies of different states of the country such as Rajasthan, Bihar, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Lucknow, Madhya Pradesh.

Along with this, apart from the main presentations, folk presentations will also be organized in the Shilpgram.

Gita Jayanti: Registration for Gita Contest starts from today

Gita Jayanti is being celebrated on December 14 across the world. On the occasion of this festival,Hare Krishna Movement and Krishna Consciousness Center (KBC) started the registration for Gita Contest to be held at Rajasthan level. The final contest will be held on March 13. A poster was released in this reference recently.

Gita contest is being organized at Rajasthan level in association with Hare Krishna Movement and Krishna Consciousness Center (KBC). The registration of this competition starts from 14th December on Gita Jayanti and the exam will be conducted on 13th March.

The poster for Gita contest was released recently in which Pran Vallabh Das, Program Coordinator of Hare Krishna Movement, Siddha Swaroop Das, in-charge of Media, Rawat Education Group’s Director and Chairman and hundreds of students were present.

President of Hare Krishna Movement Rajasthan Amitasan Das said that Bhagavad Gita is the manual of human life. 

About 5000 years ago from today, before the war of Mahabharata, Lord Shri Krishna had given the Gita preaching on the day of Gita Jayanti. The message of Bhagavad Gita is relevant even today. Today Bhagwat Gita is the most read most famous book in the world and that is why the study of Gita is being done in universities of many countries. 

As Gita Jayanti is celebrated on 14th December, it includes greater distribution and publicity. A state level competition is being organized to encourage people to study Gita, he added.

Media in-charge Siddha Swaroop Das said that Gita Contest Senior Category First prize (Gita Ratna) winner will be given ₹ 25,000/-, second prize (Gita Bhushan ) will be given to for ₹ 11000/-, third prize (Gita) will be ₹ 11000 for Gita. Along with this, special attractive trophies and certificates will be given. Consolation prizes will also be given to the contestants under the top 100 ranks in the contest.

SpaceX launches rocket carrying Blacksky, Starlink satellites

The SpaceX recently launched fifty satellites which will join the Starlink mega constellation. The satellites were launched on Falcon 9 rocket.

SpaceX launched 48 Starlink satellites along with two Earth Observation satellites called Blacksky Global which is building a satellite constellation capable of providing images of any part of the earth. It is a constellation of 60 satellites.

These satellites were launched from Florida.

The Starlink constellation envisions providing an internet access to the Earth on a large scale. It consists of 1600 satellites.

The SpaceX Starlink constellation is being built with an aim to provide high-speed internet coverage. As on December 2021, SpaceX launched 1,900 broadband satellites.

Solar Eclipse on December 4 shall be visiblein countries like Africa, Australia, South America and Atlantic, Know date, time and place where to watch from.

The last and final solar eclipse of the year will take place on December 4, 2021. This celestial event will be a Total Solar Eclipse as compared to the earlier Annular Solar Eclipse which was seen on June 10 this year. 

The solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth blocking out the sun. Some parts of the world to witness the polar eclipse include countries like– Africa, Australia, South America and Atlantic. In India, this eclipse will not be seen.

As per the Indian Standard Time (IST), the surya grahan will begin on 10:59 am while the total eclipse will start from 12:30 pm and the maximum eclipse will take place at 1:03pm.

At 1:33 pm, the full eclipse will end while at 3:07 pm the partial solar eclipse will conclude. In total, eclipse will last for 4 hours 8 minutes.

The total Solar Eclipse will be seen in South America, Australia, South Africa and in Southern Atlantic, apart from Antarctica.

GJ 367b is the ultra short planet discovered by astronomers

GJ 367b is the ultra small planet found by astronomers that is circling a dim red dwarf star. This star is 31 light years away from the sun.

The GJ 367b is a rocky planet, 70% the size of the earth and is 55% the mass of the earth. This makes GJ 367b one of the lightest known exoplanets.

This planet completes its orbit in 7.7 hours and hence is called the Ultra Short Period Planet which is dominated by an iron core. It is because of this reason the planet has high density and a disproportionately large core made of iron and nickel. This property of the planet is similar to Mercury.
