Volcanic eruption in Spain: A video surfaced on social media which showes the havoc being wrecked by the volcanic eruption on Canary Island of La Palma, leaving citizens in hysteria.

A molten lava erupting from a volcano has wrecked havoc on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma, causing hysteria among citizens and tourists, and forcing thousands to evacuate. Videos of the destruction has left people stunned on social media.

Following a week-long build-up of seismic activity, the volcano erupted on Sunday afternoon on La Palma, making it the second volcanic eruption in 50 years.

A 4.2 magnitude of quake was recorded before the eruption, and now, scorching molten lava is flowing downhill towards the ocean, destroying everything in its path.

Initially a drone video of the eruption went viral on social media, and soon, horrifying images and videos appeared that showed lava flowing into people’s houses, capturing the intensity of the disaster.

While the authorities were occupied with evacuation, firefighting, and giving out warnings to people to stay away from the phenomenon, a new crack appeared on the slope of the Cumbre Viejo volcano, and another stream of lava started flowing.

For a week, scientists had been closely monitoring a build-up of the underground magma in La Palma detecting more than 20,000 earthquakes, known as an “earthquake swarm”. Most of them were too small to be felt, but they indicated the eruption.

Scientists say that when the lava reaches the Atlantic Ocean, it can cause explosions and produce toxic gas, and there is a danger of more cracks appearing, and more lava vents forming, which will endanger new areas.

The lava flow in La Palma can last for weeks, even months, scientists say. The last eruption on the island, in 1971, went on for over just three weeks.

Vaccination controversy by UK govt: See how the British govt is now doubting India’s CoWIN certificates

Vaccination controversy by UK govt escalates as it doubts India’s CoWIN certificates

After facing a lot of backlash by the Indian’s, the UK updated its list of approved vaccines and added ‘Covishield’ but still denies to recognise CoWIN certificates.

Earlier, UK government didn’t recognise Covishield as a legitimate vaccine and clearly stated in their policies that if an Indian is vaccinated in India, he will not be considered as a fully vaccinated person and will have to be under quarantine period of 10 days and have to undergo three rounds of testing.

On Wednesday, the UK government released a new travel advisory for foreigners amid controversies between India and UK. The new changes in the travelling rules stated that now they recognise Covishield among other approved vaccines.

But again UK made an another silly move, earlier thorough those discriminatory polices against Indians and now with not accepting Indian CoWIN certificates. The new policies stated that they will follow the red traffic rules but now Covishield is also added in the list of recognised vaccines but the travellers coming from India still have to be under quarantine period. This is because, UK is not accepting CoWIN certificates.

The 4 approved vaccines now are, AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda.” You must have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in England”. Rest of their rules are same as before and the ease on travelling will start from 4th October, 2021.

Indians are again being provoked by the new rules and considering this illogical, what is point of approving Covishield when the Indian certificates will be not be considered as legitimate one and Indians have to still go through all the test and quarantine period

Chambal Valley Features

Chambal, also named as Chambal ki Ghati, is infamous in India for its lawlessness. The extensive systems of ravines and badlands have been home to various outlaws and dacoits for hundreds of years, two of the historically known being Phoolan Devi and Man Singh, who gained huge followings among the people for being Robin-hood figures challenging the hegemony of the landlords.

With vibrant diversity and a unique ecosystem, Chambal Valley has rich history and heritage, and has much to offer from its breath-taking landscapes, a variety of wildlife, rural vibe, untainted nature, fascinating ruins and legendary exploits.

Chambal Valley Myths

The valley has many myths and legends for its unholy origin. One of them considers the river to be cursed, because it is believed to have originated from the blood of thousands of cows sacrificed by the Aryan King Rantideva.

Another text mentions that Draupadi cursed this land on her way to heaven for unknown reasons.

Chambal Valley Beauty

The valley stations the National Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary, which is known to be a habitat to some of the most unusual and endangered species, including 340 species of birds which migrate from different parts of the world during winters.

Vaccination row: UK blinks after India raises eyebrows; recognises Covishield…Know updated travel guideline

0

Vaccination row erupted when UK did not give any cognisance to Indian vaccinations and dropped out the name of India from the list of countries who will not require quarantine after being travelling with full vaccination certificates.

The United Kingdom finally announced changes in its travel and quarantine rules and said that the UK now recognises Covishield as a vaccine. This new statement comes amid a growing row over UK not recognising the Covishield vaccine made in India.

Earlier, the new UK’s policy was not considering travellers from India as fully vaccinated if they have received their vaccine doses in India itself.

On 17th September, 2021 the Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps announced the new travelling policies.

UK government replaced their traffic light system to a single red list of countries and territories which will be allowed to travel to UK from monday 4 October at 4 a.m.

From the end of the October UK will ease the travel restrictions for eligible passengers under their policy.

The fully vaccinated foreigners from the red list countries will be allowed.

But the new policies got totally wrong, illogical and discriminatory for Indians when it announced its list of 17 countries that will not require quarantine upon arrival to England and India was missing in the list.

India being such a big nation and biggest country in  manufacturing vaccines and distributing it all around the world, this rules were totally unacceptable.

UK government stated in their policies that the Indians who have been vaccinated in India will not be considered as a fully vaccinated traveller. They will still have to be under quarantine for 10 days after arriving in England and have to undergo three rounds of testing no matter if they are fully vaccinated.

Indians are slamming UK government for such as discriminatory decision of excluding India from their list of nations and ignoring Covishield which has been approved by WHO itself. The only approved vaccines by UK government are: Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen.

And for the matter of fact ‘covishield’ is the same form of vaccine ‘AstraZeneca’ the only difference is that Covishield is manufactured in serum institute of India and AstraZeneca is manufactured in Oxford University and British-Swedish pharma still UK is being naive and disregarding India’s Covishield.

Anand Giri claims to have formally studied Sanskrit, Ayurveda and Vedas and graduated from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi before completing his Ph.D in Yoga Tantra. He amassed a great following teaching yoga, and started teaching as a guest lecturer in universities in India and abroad.

Anand Giri and controversies surrounded him

He has been known for his flashy lifestyle and his escapades when his photographs surfaced on the social media that showed him in luxury cars on foreign locations, which brought him severe criticism.

The controversy escalated when, during one of his travels, he was seen travelling business class with a glass of liquor next to him, which he later dismissed as apple juice.

US to ease travel restrictions for vaccinated passengers, India’s Covishield approved, Covaxin status unclear!

0

US government to ease foreign travel restrictions into the country by the beginning of the November.

On Monday, White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients officially announced that the US will ease the travel restrictions for fully vaccinated passengers and they will be able to enter the US. Its government allowed foreigners from 33 countries including India.

The US ban on non-essential travel was in form since 2020, after the outbreak of Corona virus which was introduced by President Donald Trump and after him it was kept in action by President Joe Biden. The ban started from China and then expanded to, UK , Ireland , India , Brazil and South Africa.

The US government announced the list of policies which will still be required by the foreigners to travel to US, which includes:

All foreign passengers travelling to US are required to show proofs of their vaccinations and a COVID negative report taken within three days of flight before boarding. The fully vaccinated citizens would not be required to quarantine.

After the announcement the US government clarified the list of vaccines which will be accepted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is pretty much clear that they are considering a foreigner fully vaccinated only if they have received any vaccine which is authorised by WHO or any FDA- authorised jab.

India being the world’s largest producer of vaccines after the COVID outbreak, has manufactured its own two local vaccines; ‘COVAXIN’ and ‘COVISHIELD’.

Covishield is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and Covaxin is a wholly indigenous vaccine developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.

As of now WHO has approved only seven vaccines. The only Indian vaccine which has been approved by WHO is ‘Covishield’. And so far,  16.7 crore Indians are vaccinated with ‘covishield’ while 1.9 crore with ‘covaxin’.

Covishield being the only approved vaccine by WHO will be considered and recognised by most of the nations. The new travelling policies of US will consider Indians as fully vaccinated only if they have been vaccinated with covishield.

Indian travelling to US are left with only one choice to get Covishield dabs before November.

World Rhino Day special: A far cry to save five species of rhinos, 3 of which are critically endangered!

0

World Rhino Day is observed on September 22 each year to spread awareness on the five species of rhinos and the ways to save them…

World Rhino Day is celebrated every year on September 22 which is an initiative by the International Rhino Foundation to celebrate Rhinos and people around the globe who care about them. This day is also celebrated to spread awareness about the five species of Rhino and the ways to save them.

The International Rhino Foundation celebrates this with a goal ‘keep the five alive’ for a better environment.

This year, we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of World Rhino Day

World Rhino Day: History

Back in 1990s, there was a calamity related to rhinos in Africa, particularly the black Rhinos. And by 2010  the conditions of rhinos was very critical. Only 30,000 species were left in the world at that time. Finally, on 2010, WWF-South Africa announced World Rhino Day with the desire to save the world’s remaining rhinos, an effort that grew to be an unprecedented success.

In 2011, Lisa Jane along with Rhishja Cota decided to save all five species of rhinos by spreading awareness about them. And with the strong actions taken together by these wonderful womens, world rhino day has become a global success.

The five species of Rhino:

As if now there are only five species of Rhino family left in this world. Three of them are considered critically endangered; Black, Javan and Sumatran.

1) White Rhino– They are the Africa’s largest species of Rhino also known as the ‘square lipped’ rhino. They are considered as nearly threatened species with a population of 18,067.

2) Black Rhino– Also known as ‘hook lipped’ rhino are critically endangered ones with a population of 5,630.

3) Greater One Horned Rhino– Also known as ‘Rhinoceros unicornis’ are the Asia’s largest species of Rhino which are almost vulnerable with a population of less that 3,600 alive.

4) Sumatran Rhino– Also known as ‘Dicerorhinus sumatrensis’ are critically endangered species with a population of less than 100 in this planet.

5) Javan Rhino– Also known as ‘Rhinoceros sondaicus’ are the most critically endangered species of rhino family with a population of just 72.

All the Javan Rhinos are being kept in Ujong Kulon National Park.

World Rhino Day special: A far cry to save five species of rhinos, 3 of which are critically endangered!

Rhino family: Reasons to be in an endangered state

This was not the case always on this planet. During 20th century, over 50,000 of the large mammals could be seen roaming around Asia and Africa. But few years after that the terrible rise in hunting and poaching for Rhino Horns, all around the world, resulted in destroying the rhino family.

Rhino horns were poached and sold in black markets of China. This was due to a misconception that said the keratin in rhino horn has medicinal properties that can cure a variety of ailments from hangovers to erectile dysfunction. The price of rhino horns were higher than gold making the hunters more greedy for it. Not just the poaching and hunting are accused for this cause, but also the habitat loss is responsible which resulted in death of many Rhinos from past many years.

“The only way to save a rhinoceros is to save the environment in which it lives, because there’s a mutual dependency between it and millions of other species of both animals and plants.”

-David Attenborough.

World Rhino Day: How to celebrate this day?

Celebrate this world rhino day with your family and friends by educating them about the crisis that Rhinos are facing. Think of some actions that could be taken in this regard. Spread awareness and concerns for this species and try to build a safe habitat for them. Save and protect the Rhinos for our future generations too, they are a part of our heritage as well as a part of the ecosystem.
