Matsya Jayanti 2022: Significance
Matsya is known amongst the first of Lord Vishnu’s 10 major incarnations. Lord Vishnu came to Earth in numerous avatars. It is said that the first avatar among these was Matsya and the birth of Lord Vishnu is celebrated in the Matsya Avatar.
The Matsya avatar was transformed into a fish. It is believed that Lord Vishnu saved the first man on earth, Manu, from a catastrophic flood, according to legend.
