Invest Rajasthan Summit 2022: Know dates, venue & programmes on day I and II

The Invest Rajasthan Summit is being organized by the state government on October 7-8, 2022 at JECC, Sitapura, Jaipur. This summit will be a grand ceremony in which about 3000 participants from India and abroad will participate. The theme of the Invest Rajasthan Summit 2022 is ‘Committed-Delivered’, as reiterated by the Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, in a press conference held at the CM residence on Monday. 

Total MoUs signed

The Chief Minister informed that road shows were organised at international, national and state levels from November 2021 to September 2022 before the Invest Rajasthan Summit. The state government signed 4,192 MoUs/LOIs totalling Rs 10.44 lakh crore. Out of 4192 MoUs or LOIs, a total of 1680 MoUs or LoIs are under implementation or in the implementation stage, which is about 40 percent. The foundation stone and inauguration of some of the major MoUs/LOIs will be done at the inauguration ceremony of the Invest Rajasthan Summit on October 7th, 2022.

Conclaves on NRR, Tourism, Startup, Future Ready Sector, and Agri Business

The Chief Minister further informed that the objective of this summit is to attract new investment opportunities available in various growing and developed sectors in Rajasthan. Along with new investments, the other important objectives are employment generation and establishing the state as an industrial destination. He further elaborated that the Invest Rajasthan Summit-2022 would be a two-day event in which the inaugural session would be held on the first day (October 7, 2022) in the presence of many dignitaries in the morning. After the inaugural session, parallel sectoral conclaves will be organized on NRR, Tourism, Startup, Future Ready Sector, and Agri Business.

In these parallel sectoral sessions, eminent personalities from their respective sectors have been invited as speakers. Each session organized under the summit will be different in itself, which will reflect the image of a developed Rajasthan.

MSME Conclave on second day

On the second day of the summit (8 October 2022), an MSME Conclave will be organized to promote the development of small businesses and new investment possibilities available in this area will be discussed.

Energy sector is main investment sector

At the end of the conference, the Chief Minister shared that the energy sector has emerged as the main investment sector with 57% of the proposed investment being in the implementation or under implementation phases of MoU/LOI. Apart from this, chemicals and petrochemicals have 18.2 percent, textiles 9.5 percent, petroleum and gas 5.9 percent, cement 4.6 percent, and textiles 3.4 percent.

On this occasion, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Shankuntla Rawat, besides the Chief Secretary, Usha Sharma; Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Veenu Gupta; Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Kuldeep Ranka; Secretary to CM, Gaurav Goyal, BIP Commissioner, Om Kasera; and other senior officers were also present. Notably, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been appointed as the National Partner for organizing the Invest Rajasthan Summit, which is providing exceptional support to the State Government for organizing the Summit.

Rajasthan Ratna Award 2022: Know names of awardees and their profession

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the names selected for Rajasthan Ratna Award during a press conference called at CMR on October 3.

He informed that this year’s Rajasthan Ratna Award will be given to Justice Dalveer Bhandari, Justice RM Lodha, Industrialist Anil Agarwal, Industrialist LN Mittal, Sheen Kauf Nizam, and KC Malu.

The Paddle Steamer,” PS Bhopal is 62.6 m long and 2.4 m wide. 

Now named ” The Bengal Paddle”,  the steamer is expected to commence its Heritage Cruise shortly across the Ganges.

About 310 tonnes of steel and 8 tonnes of teakwood went into the makeover of the craft. Besides being restored to its earlier form, the craft will also be used as a museum gallery thus showcasing the Heritage of Kolkata Port. 

As conveyed by Syama Prasad Mookherjee Kolkata Port officials, once the steamer starts operation, it will give an impetus to the Port’s Heritage Tour Program, thus catering to a huge number of Heritage Enthusiasts.

In December 2021,” Durga Puja in Kolkata “, one of the most popular festivals in India, was inscribed in UNESCO’s Representative List of The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This was announced at the Committee’s 16th Session held in Paris.

The festival was commended by the Committee for its initiatives to involve marginalized groups, individuals and particularly our ” Nari Shakti ” i.e., women’s participation in safeguarding the element.

To mark and celebrate the occasion, The West Bengal Tourism Department has come up with several packages for tourists during this period. The most unique however being the Relaunch of Double Decker Bus Service, namely ” Hop – On – Hop Off “, that will operate during the Durga Puja festive period from 11 am- 6 pm, till Oct 10th.Few buses will play in a loop between Cathedral Road to the Jora Sanko Thakurbari Gate.

The tickets however will be priced at Rs 50 / head and a Whole Day Ride Pass would cost Rs 250/-.

In Bandhavgarh Forest Reserve, remarkable archaeological remains have been unraveled in an exploration made by ASI.

A tweet by Archaeological Survey of India says, “In an exploration 26 temples, 26 caves, 2 monasteries, 2 votive stupas, 24 inscriptions, 46 sculptures, other scattered remains & 19 water structure are recorded.” 

“The time period of the findings covered the reigns of the kings Shri Bhimsena, Maharaja Pothasiri, Maharaja Bhattadeva. Places deciphered in the inscriptions are Kaushami, Mathura, Pavata (Parvata), Vejabharada and Sapatanaairikaa,” says second tweet of the thread.

“An ASI team covered nearly 170 sq km falling in the area of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve over months-long exploration of the region which was undertook for the first time since 1938.

The exploration was conducted by the Jabalpur Circle of ASI,” said the tweet further.

The Kumbhalgarh Festival is organised at the Kumbhalgarh fort situated to the north of Udaipur near the Aravali ranges, each year.  The 15th century architectural marvel delights travellers with the three-day Kumbhalgarh Festival. 

The festivities here are divided into two: day, and night. The daytime witnesses folk performances made by traditional artistes, as well as competitions such as turban tying and henna pattern making. The Festival is a grand tribute to Maharana Kumbha.

Ambaji is a famous pilgrimage place of Gujarat in India which is situated on the border of States of Gujarat and Rajasthan near Abu Road, in the Danta Taluka of Banaskantha District. This is the principal shrine of a goddess worshiped since the pre-Vedic period. She is often referred to as Arasuri Amba, named after the location of the temple in the Arasur hills, near the source of the Saraswati river at the south-western end of the Aravali mountain range.

3. In the holy temple of “Arasuri Ambaji”, there is no image or statue of goddess. The holy “Shree Visa Yantra” is worshiped as the main deity. No one can see the Yantra with naked eye. The photography of the Yantra is prohibited. The inner sanctum of the temple has silver-plated doors.

4. The priests decorate the upper portion of the gokh (niche in the wall) in such a way that it looks like an idol of a goddess from a distance.

6. At a short distance from the Ambaji temple is a large rectangular kund, with steps on all its four sides, called Mansarovar.

Vice President flags off Jaipur Foot team to Syria to provide artificial limbs to amputees

The Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar flagged off a team of eight persons from (BMVSS) going to Syria to set up an on-the-spot artificial limb (Jaipur Foot) fitment camp. The team will be setting up a camp in Damascus, Syria to provide 600 artificial limbs to amputees in 42 ensuing days.

Lauding the efforts of BMVSS, Dhankhar said the organisation, by popularising the Jaipur Foot around the world and providing their services free of cost, has demonstrated India’s civilisational ethos of sharing and caring. He said that, as with their other initiatives, the latest effort will also generate enormous good-will for India.

Dhankhar complimented the team for their courage to take up the mission in Syria and wished them all success in their endeavours. He also interacted with the team from BMVSS, led by its founder, Shri D.R. Mehta and some of its beneficiaries using the Jaipur foot.

It is notable that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi visited one such centre of BMVSS in Philippines in 2017, and the former Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a fitment camp of BMVSS in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2019.

In a career spanning over nearly 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan had held several command, staff and instrumental appointments and had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the northeast, the statement read.

“Govt of India appoints Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who will also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs,” the defence ministry statement read.
