Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has expressed confidence that India will be among fastest growing economies in the world in 2023 and would grow at the rate of 6.5 per cent in the current fiscal.

The three-year blanket ban on the supply and purchase of Dog meat has been removed. The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court quashed the legal ban on the import and export of Dog meat. In the ban, it was prohibited to sell, purchase, and stalk dog meat in the restaurant.
The judgment was enforced on July 2nd after Justice Marli Vankun heard a petition of three people who used to provide and sell dog meat in Nagaland way before the ban enforcement in 2020.
The ban included a total ban on trading dog meat, commercial imports, and the sale of Dog meat in markets and dining restaurants.
Nagaland’s Chief Secretary, the Food Safety Commissioner and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Kohima Municipal Council, People For Animals, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) were the respondents included in the judgment.
The court stated that even while the challenged notification of July 4, 2020, was purported to have been made in line with a Cabinet decision, eating dog meat appears to be an acceptable practice and food among the Nagas even in current times.
