Chartered Accountants Day 2024: Quotes and Why it is celebrated?

0

Every year on July 1st, we observe National Chartered Accountants (CA) Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the foundation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). This year, we mark the 76th anniversary of the ICAI’s establishment, commemorating its pivotal role in shaping the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India.

What is the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)?

The ICAI is a statutory body formed by an Act of Parliament, the Chartered Accountants Act of 1949, tasked with regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India. Administered by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the ICAI serves as the country’s sole licensing and regulatory body for financial audits and the accounting profession. The guidelines released by ICAI must be implemented by the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) and all other accounting and finance organizations in India.

Why Is July 1 Celebrated As CA Day?

The tradition of celebrating CA Day on July 1 dates back to the foundation of ICAI. Before India’s independence, the British Government regulated accounts under the Companies Act and later introduced a diploma program in accounting for auditors. By 1930, the Government of India maintained a Register of Accountants, listing those qualified to work as auditors across the country.

However, the profession lacked effective norms and regulations, prompting the establishment of an expert committee in 1948. This committee recommended the creation of an autonomous accounting body to oversee the profession, leading to the enactment of the Chartered Accountants Act in 1949. Thus, ICAI was born, and July 1 was designated as Chartered Accountants Day to honor this milestone.

Significance of Chartered Accountants Day 2024

Chartered Accountants Day is a day to recognize the significant contributions of accountants to the financial progress of the country. Chartered accountants play a crucial role in various aspects of business and finance, including auditing, taxation, financial management, and general management. Their expertise ensures the integrity and transparency of financial practices, fostering trust and stability in the economy.

How To Celebrate Chartered Accountants Day 2024

On CA Day, companies and organizations across India celebrate by honoring their accountants with gifts, organizing office parties, and engaging in other celebratory activities. Some firms extend special discounts to their loyal clients as a token of appreciation. It’s a day to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of CAs, who are indispensable to the financial well-being of businesses and the nation.

Quotes on Chartered Accountants Day 2024

  • “Chartered Accountants are partners in nation building.” – A P J Abdul Kalam
  • “The signature of a Chartered Accountant is more important than the signature of the Prime Minister.” – Narendra Modi
  • “CA is not just a qualification, it’s the pride and dignity of my life.” – Kumar Mangalam Birla
  • “I decided to do CA in case cricket didn’t work out. After opening my first book I doubled my efforts in Cricket.” – Rahul Dravid

As we celebrate Chartered Accountants Day 2024, let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to these dedicated professionals who are the pillars of financial integrity and ethical practice. Their unwavering commitment to excellence ensures the stability and growth of our economy, making them true partners in nation-building.

History of Kargil War
The Kargil War, a conflict that erupted between Pakistan and India from May to July 1999, took place in the Kargil sector of the disputed Kashmir region, a contentious area frequently marred by border skirmishes. This particular clash, however, was the largest and deadliest of them all. The conflict commenced in early May when the Indian military discovered that Pakistani fighters had infiltrated the Indian-administered territory. In response, India mobilized its Army and Air Force to repel the intruders, who included regulars from the Pakistani army.

The Kargil War Memorial, located in Dras, Jammu and Kashmir, honors the soldiers who fought during the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. The memorial features inscriptions, a Wall of Names, and a gallery displaying artifacts and photographs. It serves as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Indian armed forces.

While the capital city continues to boom in economic and infrastructural areas, the emergence of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in its vicinity is soaring as a pathbreaker, especially in the real estate market. With rapid urbanization, better infrastructural development, enhanced economic opportunities, and higher quality of life, these smaller cities are not only catching the eyes of homebuyers but also exciting developers who are eager to seize the opportunities in this potential real estate market.
