According to the new order, green crackers can be burst on October 19 and 20, but only during two-hour windows — from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and again from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Their sale will be permitted between October 18 and 20.

A Bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran termed this relaxation a “test case”, aiming to see whether festive celebrations and environmental protection can go hand in hand. The judges stressed that the goal was to find a balance between the joy of Diwali and the health of the environment.

The court observed that in previous years, a complete ban on firecrackers had backfired, leading to the illegal smuggling of traditional, more polluting varieties. Allowing certified eco-friendly crackers, the Bench said, would help reduce both pollution and black-market activity.

These green firecrackers, approved by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), are designed to emit up to 30% less pollutants and reduce noise levels compared to conventional fireworks.

The Supreme Court also directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards to closely monitor air and water quality from October 14 to 25, ensuring that pollution levels remain under control and that the relaxation is not misused.

While the verdict has brought cheer to many, the court cautioned that this is only a temporary allowance. If air quality deteriorates significantly, future relaxations might not return.

Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has joined hands with Meta to become the new voice of its AI assistant across multiple countries, marking a major collaboration between the global tech giant and one of India’s most influential actresses.

Taking to Instagram, Deepika shared a behind-the-scenes video of herself recording her voice in a studio for Meta AI. In the video, she says, “Hi, I am Deepika Padukone. I am the new voice of Meta AI. So tap the ring and my voice will run out.”

Sharing her excitement, the actress captioned the post, “Okay, so this is pretty cool I think! I’m now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.”

With this collaboration, users in these six countries will now be able to interact with Meta’s AI using Deepika’s distinctive voice — a move that brings a personalized and localized touch to the global AI experience.

Recently, Deepika Padukone — who is also the founder of The Live Love Laugh (LLL) Foundation — was appointed as the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), recognizing her ongoing commitment to mental health awareness and advocacy.

The partnership with Meta marks yet another milestone in Deepika’s career, blending entertainment, technology, and social impact on a global scale.

Kedarnath, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, is a revered pilgrimage site that demands both physical endurance and spiritual resolve. Devotees must navigate steep climbs, unpredictable weather, heavy rainfall, snowfall, and rugged terrain to reach the sacred shrine. While the journey is a profound symbol of Hindu faith, its difficulty can be particularly challenging for the elderly and children.

To ease this arduous journey, the Adani Group is constructing a 12.9-kilometer-long ropeway at an estimated cost of over ₹4,000 crore. Once completed, the ropeway will reduce the travel time from Sonprayag to Kedarnath from 8–9 hours to just 36 minutes.

Gondola Size: 35 seats per cabin
