The Honour Run Bib Expo and cultural extravaganza kicked off on December 5 at the Gandiv Stadium, Jaipur Military Station, with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event, themed “Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam”, witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries and offered a blend of cultural heritage and military prowess.
Shri Madan Dilawar, Minister of Education and Panchayati Raj, Rajasthan, inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, and Mrs. BarinderJeet Kaur, Regional President of AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association), Sapta Shakti Command, along with other distinguished guests.
The Bib Expo was a vibrant showcase of military artistry and physical excellence. Spectators were enthralled by the awe-inspiring performances of Kalaripayattu, the traditional martial art of India; Gatka, a Sikh martial art form; paramotor stunts; and trick riding by the famed 61 Cavalry. These demonstrations highlighted the skill, discipline, and cultural richness of the Indian Army.
As part of the inaugural ceremony, the first bibs were ceremonially handed over to prominent runners by the Chief Guest and other luminaries, including Mrs. Ritu Gaur, General Manager of SBI, and Padma Shri awardee Paralympian Dr. Deepa Malik.
Inspirational Insights from Trailblazers
The event also featured motivational addresses by celebrated figures who encouraged the audience with their remarkable journeys. Dr. Deepa Malik, a Paralympian and Arjuna Awardee, shared her story of resilience and determination. Joining her were Mrs. Sunita Godara, an Asian Marathon Champion, Mrs. Sangeeta Bishnoi, and Para Athlete Colonel Anuj Bindra, who inspired the attendees with their achievements and words of encouragement.
The Bib Expo was attended by senior Army officials, students from Army Public Schools, NCC cadets, and fitness enthusiasts. Bib distribution will continue until December 7, accommodating runners arriving from outside Jaipur.
A Run to Honour Veterans
The Honour Run, scheduled for December 8, 2024, will be a tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and service of the Indian Army’s brave veterans. Themed “A Run for Veterans”, the event will feature time-based races in 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km categories, alongside a 3 km fun run. Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister for Industry, Commerce, IT, and Communication, Rajasthan, will flag off the run.
This event is not only a salute to the nation’s veterans but also a step towards promoting health and fitness among citizens. Participants and attendees alike are united by the spirit of patriotism and the resolve to give back to those who have dedicated their lives to the nation.
