India’s first museum dedicated to alcohol has opened in Goa. ‘All About Alcohol’ is a museum dedicated to centuries-old alcohol bottles, glasses and manufacturing equipment which has opened in Candolim

Alcohol museum, first of its place dedicated to alcohol has opened in India.

For the “spirited” enthusiasts, this museum, branded as “All About Alcohol”, has been set up by local businessman Nandan Kudchadkar, in North Goa’s Candolim village.

The All About Alcohol Museum focuses on the pride Goans take in feni, the colourless alcohol that has been part of the Goan culture for centuries.

These garrafoes (handblown glass containers) have been storing Feni since the 1946. Feni that is made on the Kudchadkar’s family estate in Neturlim, South Goa.

The museum houses several artefacts linked to feni, in which the local cashew-based alcohol was stored centuries ago.

The major idea behind the setting up of this museum was to make the world aware of Goa’s rich heritage, especially the story of feni which is quite the strong local drink, Kudchadkar, who is a collector of antiques, told media.

“When we come to India, we project alcohol differently. Following my instincts, I decided to set up India’s first museum dedicated to alcohol,” he said.
