Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk will join the board of directors of social media platform Twitter.
Twitter furnished this information on Tuesday, a day after Musk’s 9% stake in Twitter surfaced. Musk will remain as Class II director until the 2024 annual meeting of stockholders. After this news, the shares of Twitter are seeing a rise.
Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal tweeted, “I’m excited to share that we’re appointing @elonmusk to our board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board.”
“He’s both a passionate believer and intense critic of the service which is exactly what we need on @Twitter, and in the boardroom, to make us stronger in the long-term. Welcome Elon!,” he added.
Elon was quick to respond to Parag’s tweet.
