Who was the first Deputy Prime Minister of India

The first Deputy Prime Minister of India was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first Deputy Prime Minister of India, who also served as the union home minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet. The office, since then, has been intermittently occupied for limited years which count to 11 years since the inception of the post.

Patel occupied the post for 3 years until his death in 1950. The post was vacant however, later Morarji Desai became the second deputy prime minister in 1967.

The seventh and last deputy prime minister was LK Advani.
