Music has the power to inspire, heal, and unite people across boundaries. For Aikarth, music is not merely a profession but a lifelong companion that has guided every stage of his journey. From picking up a guitar during his school days to making his mark in Bollywood, his story is one of passion, perseverance, and faith in one’s dreams.

On the occasion of World Music Day, Aikarth speaks about his musical journey, the challenges he faced, his creative process, the evolving music industry, and his message for aspiring musicians.

Q. On the occasion of World Music Day, what does music mean to you personally, and how has it shaped your life and identity over the years?
Aikarth Purohit:
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s more than a career for me, it’s where I find peace, express myself, and connect with people. Every important phase of my life has been influenced by music, and I genuinely believe it has shaped the person I am today.

Q. Growing up, when did your journey with music begin, and what first inspired you to pursue it seriously?
Aikarth Purohit:
My journey started during my school days when I first picked up the guitar. Initially, it was just something I loved doing, but as time went on, I realized I couldn’t imagine my life without music. Even during engineering, I found myself spending more time creating music than anything else, and that’s when I knew I wanted to pursue it seriously.

Q. Was there a defining moment in your life when you realized that music was not just a passion but your true calling?
Aikarth Purohit:
Yes, there was. I went through a major accident during my engineering days, and that phase made me look at life very differently. It reminded me that life is unpredictable, and if I truly wanted to do something, I shouldn’t wait. That’s when I decided to follow music wholeheartedly.

Q. Learning and mastering music is a lifelong process. How did you train yourself in singing, composition, and music production?
Aikarth Purohit:
I’ve always believed that music never stops teaching you. A lot of what I’ve learned has come through practice, experimenting, making mistakes, and constantly trying to improve. I spent countless hours understanding composition, production, and recording techniques, and even today, I feel I’m still learning every single day.

“I simply followed my heart, stayed patient through every challenge, and let music lead the way.”

Q. Coming from a city like Udaipur and entering the highly competitive Bollywood music industry is no easy feat. How did that journey unfold?
Aikarth Purohit:
It definitely wasn’t easy. Coming from Udaipur, there weren’t many direct opportunities in Bollywood, so I had to create my own path. I started with independent projects, ad jingles, and local collaborations. Slowly, people started noticing my work, and one opportunity led to another. Looking back, every small project played an important role in getting me where I am today.

Q. Every success story has its share of struggles. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced?
Aikarth Purohit:
The biggest challenge was believing in myself when things weren’t going my way. There were rejections, long waiting periods, and moments when people questioned my decision to leave engineering for music. But I always felt that if I kept improving my work and stayed patient, the right opportunities would eventually come. Thankfully, they did.

Q. How did your first major break in Bollywood come about, and what did you learn from it?
Aikarth Purohit:
It didn’t happen overnight. It came after years of consistently working on different kinds of music projects. When I finally got the opportunity to work on a Bollywood film, it felt like years of hard work had started paying off. The biggest lesson I learned was that preparation is everything. You never know which project will change your life, so every project deserves your best.

Q. As a singer, composer, music producer, and director, which role do you enjoy the most?
Aikarth Purohit:
If I had to choose one, I’d say composing. That’s where every song begins. Creating a melody from scratch is a beautiful feeling. But I also enjoy being involved in the entire process, from production to the final mix, because each stage adds something special to the final song.

Q. Could you take us inside your studio and creative workspace?
Aikarth Purohit:
My studio is like my second home. It’s where ideas come to life. I wanted to create a space where creativity flows naturally and artists feel comfortable experimenting without limitations. Technology has become an important part of music production, but at the end of the day, it’s still the emotion behind the song that matters the most.

Q. Looking back at your career, which projects are the biggest milestones for you?
Aikarth Purohit:
Every project has taught me something valuable, but working on Bollywood films has definitely been a major milestone. Building Baselard Studios is another achievement I’m very proud of because it represents years of hard work and a dream that became reality. Seeing my music reach audiences across the country is always a special feeling.

Q. Rajasthan has a rich musical heritage. Has it influenced your work?
Aikarth Purohit:
Without a doubt. Growing up in Rajasthan, you’re surrounded by beautiful folk music and culture. I think those influences naturally become a part of you. Even when I’m creating modern music, I feel that my roots somehow find their way into my compositions.

Q. In today’s era of streaming platforms, social media, and AI, how do you see the music industry evolving?
Aikarth Purohit:
It’s an exciting time for musicians. Earlier, getting noticed was much more difficult, but today talented artists can reach millions through digital platforms. AI is also becoming a useful tool, especially in production, but I don’t think it can replace genuine creativity or human emotion. Those things will always belong to artists.

Q. What does your creative process usually look like?
Aikarth Purohit:
There’s no fixed formula. Sometimes a melody comes first, sometimes it’s just a mood or a single line. Once the idea feels right, I start building around it with arrangements, production, and vocals. I keep working until the song feels emotionally complete. For me, that’s the most important part.

Q. What advice would you give young people who dream of becoming musicians?
Aikarth Purohit:
Focus on becoming better every day instead of chasing instant success. Learn your craft, stay disciplined, and don’t compare yourself with others. Every artist has a different journey. If you’re honest with your work and stay consistent, opportunities will come.

Q. Finally, on World Music Day, what message would you like to share?
Aikarth Purohit:
Music has the ability to bring people together, heal emotions, and inspire hope. To everyone who loves music or dreams of making it, I’d simply say, never stop creating. Stay patient, keep learning, and believe in your journey because great things take time.
