Ola Electric to become world’s largest women-only factory with highest women workforce

Ola Electric’s FutureFactory is to become world’s largest women-only factory and the only all-women automotive manufacturing facility globally with their employee count over 10,000 women, said CEO Bhavish Aggarwal recently in a company blog post. Khushneet Kaur writes…

Ola Electric has come forward with a new initiative of E-Scooters with a vision to provide the world with a carbon negative footprint, clean mobility and an inclusive workforce, who will work alongside more that 3,000 AI-driven robots.

It will make its own battery packs, motor, vehicle computer and software to ensure that 90 per cent parts are present in close proximity, and to ensure low costs. It plans to make one electric scooter every two seconds on its 10 production lines with an aim to produce 10 million electric scooters annually.

“Aatmanirbhar Bharat requires Aatmanirbhar women!” Aggarwal mentioned this in his tweet, with a video showing the first batch of enthusiastic and passionate employees, who arrived at the facility in Chennai.

“Enabling women with economic opportunities improves not just their lives but that of their families and indeed the whole community. In fact, studies show that just providing women parity in the labor workforce can grow India’s GDP by 27 percent,” the founder said.

Ola Electric has invested significantly to train and upskill its all-women workforce in core manufacturing skills, and they will be responsible for the entire production of every vehicle manufactured. Their first task will be to ready Ola’s S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters for delivery.
