Mother’s Day Special: Meet these single moms who raised their kids with elan & grace

Mother’s Day falls on second Sunday of the May month each year. This day is meant to celebrate the mother-child bond which remains the purest in all forms.

Being a single mother in a society is not easy. Single mothers have to raise their kids all by themselves while challenging the social norms. On this Mother’s Day, let’s take a sneak peak into the lives of single mothers from Bollywood who are combating culture and social media trolling but are giving the best as mothers:

Neena Gupta: She raised her daughter Masaba as a strong woman while facing the challenges of being a single mother. Neena says her friends wanted her to marry to give her child a name and she found the idea stupid.

It needs to be mentioned here that Neena Gupta was in a relationship with West Indian cricketer Vivian Richards in the eighties and both of them share a daughter, Masaba Gupta, who is a renowned fashion designer. Later, Neena went on to marry Vivek Mehra.

Karisma Kapoor: This girl from Kapoor Khandaan stood out strong amid all odd after getting divorced from businessman Sanjay Kapur, with whom she has two children – Samaira and Kiaan, She takes care of her kids on her own and is seen attending their school activities too.

Sushmita Sen: Sushmita has been a former Miss Universe who adopted two daughters, Renee now 19, and Alisah who is ten. 

Renee was adopted when she was just 24 years old and Sushmita says that she is proud of her decision to have become mom at the age of 24.

Raveena Tandon: She adopted two girls namely Chhaya and Pooja in 1995 as a single mother and strongly believes that adopting these young girls was the best decision of her life.Both of her daughters are happily married now. The actress herself is married to businessman Anil Thadani and has two kids with him – Ranbir and Rasha.

Amrita Singh: Amrita Singh is a well-known Bollywood star of the 80s, who is a proud mother of two, including actor Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim. After her separation from Saif Ali Khan in the year 2002, she nurtured her two kids on her own.
