Geeta Batra, an Indian economist, has been appointed as the new Director of the Independent Evaluation Office of the World Bank’s Global Environment Facility. She will oversee the assessment of the impact and performance of the GEF, which has funded over 5,700 environmental projects in 170 countries since 1992. Batra has a rich experience in private sector development, competitiveness, and evaluation. She is also the co-author of several books and articles on these topics.
