The holy city of Pushkar witnessed a historic event during the Kartik Purnima celebrations at the annual Pushkar Fair 2024. In a grand spectacle of devotion and unity, 5,100 women lit 51,000 earthen lamps (diyas) across all 52 ghats of the sacred Pushkar Lake, setting a remarkable record. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari graced the occasion, alongside Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat and Masuda MLA Virendra Singh Kanawat, participating in the ceremonial maha aarti at Jaipur Ghat.
The initiative, spearheaded by women dressed in traditional chunari attire, was declared a record by Dr. Vinod Sharma of the India Book of Records. A certificate of recognition was presented on-site to honor the achievement. Women from various self-help groups under Rajeevika, Asha Sahayoginis, and Anganwadi workers from Pisangan, Pushkar, and rural Ajmer joined hands to illuminate the ghats in unison.
