Teej Festival goes digital with Rajasthan’s new innovative initiative

This year’s Teej Festival, organized annually by the Rajasthan Tourism Department, promises to be a unique and grand celebration. Innovating the traditional festivities, the department is expanding the scope of the event under the theme “Colors of Teej, Along with Rajasthan.” The festival will be held on August 7 and 8, and is set to captivate both locals and tourists alike.

Key Highlights:

  • Selfie points to be set up at select tourist locations
  • Photo contest and influencer promotions for the Teej Festival
  • Live streaming on official social media accounts to engage the diaspora
  • LED screens at Tripolia Gate, Choti Chaupad, Badi Chaupad, Albert Hall, and Talkatora

Selfie Points and Iconic Locations

According to Upendra Singh Shekhawat, the Deputy Director of the department, special selfie points will be established at major tourist attractions such as Albert Hall, Hawa Mahal, and City Palace. These points will allow visitors to capture and cherish memories of the Teej Festival, blending the festive spirit with the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

Grand Procession and Cultural Performances

The traditional Teej procession, symbolizing life, fertility, and prosperity, will start from City Palace. It will feature performances by local artists at designated stages at Janani Deodhi, Choti Chaupad, and Talkatora, ensuring that spectators can fully enjoy the vibrant displays. The festivities will also include a magnificent fireworks display and performances by brass and jail bands, adding to the grandeur of the event.

Enhanced Seating and Flower Showers

To make the Teej procession more memorable, the tourism department is arranging additional seating near Hind Hotel and other locations. A special attraction this year will be the aerial flower showers on the procession, adding a magical touch to the celebrations.

Photo Contest and Influencer Promotions

The festival’s theme, “Colors of Teej, Along with Rajasthan,” will be highlighted through a photo contest. Participants can submit up to five photos related to the festival on the department’s social media accounts by August 11. The best photographs will be awarded by the department. Influencers will also be invited to promote the festival, creating reels and posts under sub-themes like “Colors of Teej with Ghevar,” “Colors of Teej with Leheriya,” and “Colors of Teej with Jewelry,” bringing a modern twist to the traditional celebration.

Live Streaming for Global Engagement

To connect with the diaspora and global audience, the department will live stream the Teej procession and cultural activities on its official website and social media accounts. LED screens will be installed at prominent locations like Tripolia Gate, Choti Chaupad, Badi Chaupad, Albert Hall, and Talkatora. This initiative aims to share the Teej festivities with the world, allowing people everywhere to witness and engage with Rajasthan’s rich traditions.
