The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of the Netherlands’ which is is dedicated to Dutch arts and history. Situated in Amsterdam in Museum Square, close to the Van Gogh Museum, it was founded in The Hague on November 19, 1798 and was shifted to Amsterdam in 1808.
The museum is famous for its masterpieces including The Milkmaid, Self Portrait of Van Gogh, Rembrandt’s Night Watch, The Merry Family, etc. It means the State Museum in English. The museum was founded in 1798 and it displays more than 8,000 art pieces. It has a collection of more than 1 million objects belonging to the 1200-2000 centuries.
The Rijksmuseum was inspired by the French museum the Louvre.
The museum made 125,000 images available for download and these numbers are being increased every year. Every year, the museum is increasing its numbers. The target has been set to one million images!
