The new official IPL team owned by RPSG Group named the IPL franchise as Lucknow Super Giants.
The official name of the Lucknow IPL team is decided through public opinions by the fans of upcoming Lucknow team and IPL fans.
Sanjiv Goenka the owner of the RPSG group announced the official name of the team through a video message on 24 January, Monday. He further thanked all the fans and audiences who took participate in this campaign and helped deciding the name for Lucknow IPL team ,ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction.
The consumer engagement of officially crowdsourcing the name of the team by its fans was launched on social media on 3rd January 2022. The campaign was called “Naam banao naam kamao”.
The Lucknow Super Giants Captaincy is under the shoes of KL Rahul, Lucknow picked him for Rs.17 crores. The team also announced two more players for the team, Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for 9.2 crore and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for 4 crore.
The franchise was purchased last year for Rs. 7090 crore by Sanjiv Goenka, owner of the RPSG group.
